The benefit of getting it paid every four weeks is that once a year there’s a month with two paydays 😊 and it feels like Christmas!

In fact, the 'extra' month funds my Christmas.

My state pension is paid every four weeks and my private pension is paid every month.

I was unaware that State Pension was paid a month in hand - what an unpleasant discovery that was!
I was unaware that it could be paid weekly and have no recollection of having a choice. Might look into it…

This is a question one of my relatives (approaching pension age) is asking. I can vaguely recall filling in the initial form and seeing that there was a choice. As I have been paid monthly all my life I chose the latter.

I've always been paid monthly and my works pension is too but I chose weekly for the SP as it was advised at the time; the reason is lost in the mists of time.

Weekly

Allira Tue 17-Sept-24 22:56:46

I chose weekly too.

Mine is paid every four weeks on Friday,
If I had weekly, it would disappear into the ether.

tanith Tue 17-Sept-24 22:16:39

Mine is paid weekly too.

Ooh, it'll be my turn next year! Do you get sent the forms/email (if so, how far in advance of your birthday?)or do you just go online to apply?

NotAGran55 Tue 17-Sept-24 22:08:12

My pension pay day is a Friday, and I received my first pension payment of 3 days just 3 days after my birthday.

Then every 4 weeks on a Friday, not monthly.

You can request weekly payments.

Cabbie21 Tue 17-Sept-24 21:43:56

I chose to get mine weekly.

Margiknot Tue 17-Sept-24 21:30:09

Mine was similar to BevSec.

BevSec Tue 17-Sept-24 21:22:50

You get half the amount two weeks after your birthday then the full amount four weeks later, then the full amount every four weeks following.

Kim19 Tue 17-Sept-24 20:06:58

Weekly is my choice. Simply applied and....bingo.

lindiann Tue 17-Sept-24 17:28:51

I can nearly apply for my State Pension. Does any one know if you can have it paid weekly, if you have it paid monthly you have to wait a month for it to be paid, if you have it weekly does it start a week from your birthday or a month then it gets paid weekly?
