When you opt for weekly there are four months in the year when you get five payments, i.e. 52 and not 48 weeks in the year.

4-weekly on a Friday suits me just fine. I really look forward to it..

My double month for my pension is just before Christmas which is great. Almost feels like
Christmas is free.

I got my invitation code but there is nothing on the online application to ask for weekly do I have to phone them?

Yes - it’s multiply the 4 weekly amount by 13, not 12 to get the annual figure.

Most of my clients who receive the state pension are always confused by the 4 weekly payments when it comes to telling me their figures. Each year I tell them exactly what they want but they rarely get it right.

Yep....weekly. It's something one has to deliberately opt for as far as I can remember. My "payday" is Thursday every week for that. I find it useful re organising my finances - as I have my job pension monthly and the bills come out of that (apart from any NHS bills - as I call them). I take my "daily living" money out of the State Pension - ie cash for groceries/social life/etc and regard all that bit of my income as "for me to live on after the darn bills". Every so often I "round up" spare money from all sources in my bank account and put it into my savings account with a building society.

We both opted for weekly payments for our state pensions as we were paid weekly. However our works pensions are paid monthly so go towards bill payments.

I started receiving my state pension later in the month than my twin sister - it was dependant on the NI numbers evidently, nothing to do with the 20 minutes between our births! Still not caught up!

My husband is 66 in December had his letter regarding his pension about 4 weeks ago it had a code on it to go on line and claim pension, I'm waiting for my letter I'm 66 in January. He got an email after filling in form on line telling him he would receive two weeks first then monthly.

Yes agreed, I prefer to get mine monthly too. It feels like an actual salary in it's own way when it's monthly paid, and you can do more with it..

I can't remember exactly when I got my first payment after my birthday, but I phoned them to request weekly payments, I think otherwise you just get monthly unless you ask.

When my husband worked in local government, he was paid every four weeks.

It meant that we would have a free mortgage / Council Tax/ Gas etc payment each pay day.
I used to put it away into a savings account.
Unfortunately, it was changed to monthly. I was not pleased! 😉

My husband had a job where he was paid every four weeks. I found it difficult to juggle as standing orders were paid out monthly but the extra payday arrived about Christmas time which came in handy.

And those who are paid every two weeks will have two months in a year (roughly 6 months apart) when they receive 3 payments in a calendar month!

I first spotted it when my husband received his pension 10 years ago and now I can plot those months on my diary for the next 12 months.

He was paid on Friday 2 August, 16 August and again on 30 August- that won’t happen again until January when payday for him will be 3rd, 17th and 31st - so handy after Christmas!

I get mine 4 weekly. I wish I had the option of monthly. My workplace pension is paid monthly as are all my direct debits for household bills. It would be much easier for me to have the SP monthly as well.

Pantglas2 I wasn't aware of this. Does the double payment depend on when you began receiving your pension? I suppose it must.

Mr PG gets his every two weeks and like you finds that there are two months in the year, six months apart, when he gets 3 x 2 week payments!

I know it all adds up to the same annual amount regardless of frequency but it sure FEELS like a win in a bonus month!

It’s my double month now!
It’ll pay for my holiday spending when the credit card statement plops on the mat!
