Ofgem To Announce Latest Energy Price Rises Today

But what is the point of Ofgem?

Supposedly an energy price cap regulator but why is the cap always allowed to be regulated upwards?

It seems to me that Ofgem almost actively encourages the energy companies to increase prices.

And, unfortunately, the Labour government seems content to do sod all to stamp on this profiteering abuse.

Supposed green energy will never be cheap. Companies are paid millions in curtailment.

Ofgem is not increasing prices it is changing the price cap by 1.2% (for the period January-March 2025)

The price cap sets a maximum rate per unit. It's up to your own supplier to decide on the prices they charge you.

Just saying.
Ofgem does more than set price caps!

Just been listening to Martin Lewis, energy prices are going up in January and 99% sure to go up in April as well.

I can see our current PM in the run up to the election promising to reduce our energy bills by £300 a year, what he omitted is that this will be by 2030.
