Very concerning practices re elderly people taken to rehab in care homes.
Being pushed by managers and social workers to let a non lawyer take control of their affairs. Conflict of interest. Financial abuse.
Difficult to explain here
Everyone needs to listen.
Fore warned is fore armed.

From an NHS point of view, rehab has always been done in care homes, at home ,in living, and in accommodation, since the cutting out of rehab wards, and you don't need an acute hospital bed, which they are, for rehab that may take many months.
Managers in care homes using coercion for financial gain are breaking the law, this is dreadful if happening.
Social services can help with financial assessments but obviously not allowed to coerce people into parting with their money.
Ridiculous that the checking body, CQC will only visit every couple of years, unless someone makes a concern known.
Power of Attourney most important if feasible.

I don’t recognise what you describe regarding the NHS Freya5. There are still rehab wards, that’s now one of the major roles of community hospitals. Most areas have a specific stroke/neurology rehab wards, and general rehab wards too. These wards are supported by Physiotherapy, OT and Soacial Work teams, and aim to get patients home, with a reablement package if needed.

It's not really about rehab.
But people disappearing from their homes perhaps after a fall and then being isolated in care homes where they are unduly influenc3d to hand over control of their financial affairs.
It really is worth listening to.
Broadcast mon to fri at 1.45pm last week and next.
