Co-op legal services

Has anyone used Co-op legal services?

I made enquiries the other day and they do not give a free 30 minute consultation, but charge £120 for 30 minutes.

You pay the £120:00 and then they tell you how much their fees are likely to be.

I'm just wondering if their fees are not so high as some, if it is worth paying the £120:00?

If anyone has used them, can you let me know?

I didn't use them, but they left a sour taste. When mum died recently and we used co-op for the funeral, they phoned me repeatedly trying to get me to use their legal services. I found that insensitive and borderline harassment.

Thanks Grandmabatty.
Hard sell doesn't work for me either.
I don't think I'm going to bother...finding solicitors is so random though, not to say very costly.

I used a local solicitor free half hour . Talked about what I needed then given there costs . This was in 2020 the costs then was £250 per hour plus VAT.

By having the free 30 mins gives you a feel if you trust them or not. If not try a different one .

I trusted my old solicitor where I lived and when selling my house knew from the start the costs and they never charged me extra when my house sale fell twice through. Had used them for years they dealt with our wills ,probate after my husband died. I used them for dealing with both my dad's will as I didn't like their solicitor. And mom had her new will with them and I dealt with the probate .

My new solicitor did my new will and took out both powers of attorney at the same time as it was cheaper that way.

Thanks Whiff- it was specifically to do with the Co-op but I have decided to give the whole thing a miss. The matter is very personal and I can't say much here, but thanks for taking the time to reply.

I am finding that more and more are now charging for initial consulations. More and more people being left outside the justice system now... I don't know if and when that is going to change.
