67, retired , happy!

Good for you Gentlemd! Life is short and you are making the best of it. I have been retired a while now and I still remember the absolute joy and freedom of not having to get up and go to work and planning my own life. Not that I didn’t like my work but just … the freedom.

Hmm, Morocco a marvellous place to retire to. Strange they have not returned to comment on healthcare. I'm very cynical know loads of people who have done this and once they hit 70, they are usually looking to move back to UK.

Personally I would miss my family and friends too much to retire overseas but sounds like an exciting new phase of your lives.

Interesting. Many countries have strong laws in place to prevent foreigners purchasing property, and many more with regard go second homes.
Like jaxjacky I suspect this hard sell.

So many things to consider if retiring abroad, and one of the most important is health care.

Wonder, if the OP - who if this post is absolutely genuine, is now making the effort of learning the local language.

Been to Marrakech on holiday - loved it. However, for some reason, I found it very dusty. I was constantly covering my nose and mouth, as I have asthma, and I was scared that I might have an attack.
Loved the culture, the. food and even the snake charmers 😳

I was suspecting and still do, the sell.

It is not rude, nor is it a personal question. She's asking about healthcare provision in his new country Morocco.

Since he's encouraging grandparents to consider retiring to Morocco because it's so cheap ; health costs are a very sensible issue to consider.

Retirees are the age group most likely to require health services. Pensioners are the economic group most likely to be budgeting a reduced income.

I disagree that Jaxjacky was rude. You've been asked by others very politely but haven't answered. You don't have too of course but it's a question often asked of GN's who've moved abroad.

Hey, I’m 67 and just retired with my wife. A few months ago we moved from the UK to Morocco, and honestly, we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but it’s been brilliant. We managed to buy a 2 bedroom flat by the beach in the north for £50k and another 2 bedroom apartment in Marrakech for £60K, both far cheaper than anything back home. The cost of living is low too, we’re getting by comfortably on about £500 a month, and that covers pretty much everything. The weather’s lovely, the people are friendly, and life just feels a lot slower and easier. Takes a bit of getting used to, like sorting out local paperwork and services, but if you’ve ever thought about retiring somewhere new with your partner, Morocco is definitely worth a look.

It’s a significant consideration for anyone thinking of moving abroad Carmen particularly out of Europe.
