Good news!! Increase in mileage rates for 2026/27

The Government has announced a 10p increase in mileage rates for the whole of the 2026/27 tax year. The mileage rate for cars and vans is now 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles in the tax year for 2026/27.

This will be of particular benefit to self-employed and people such as carers, of whom I know there are a number on GN.

I ca n remember being annoyed when Brown reduced it from 45p to 40p

That allowance used to be really important for DH, and like WWM2 he was really annoyed by Brown’s action.

The heading IMO should read work mileage rates.
