If you have to pay up before they pay up, you can be 100% certain that it is a scam and someone is trying to steal money from you.

Trust your bank. They stopped me being defrauded last weekend, only £30, but ever little counts, as they say.

One of the reasons this scam asks for some money up front is: they tell you they are going to open a crypto account so you can hide the money. They assure you that once that account is up and running you can take your deposit out, or leave it in.

I'm in the US and this sounds like a scam. These scammers are hoping to trigger your "greed gene".

A couple of questions: The media company would have a record of the sharés held by your sister wouldn't they? Who is handling her estate?

I shut them all down mid-flow with an instruction to “put it in writing, write to me”
None of them did - all scammers…

Sorry but no, this is exactly what you don't do. You sever any lines of communication at the slightest hint is may be a scam or fraud. All the time you're talking they could be using voice recognition technology or using the time to hack your phone.

You then phone the SAFE UK banking 3 digit number - preferably from another phone if possible

No point in blocking the number. The number is real but has no link with the scammer.

When you are grieving it's sometimes hard to always be rational. Take no notice of Monami - we are all vulnerable to scammers. You did the right thing in checking.

This sounds like a rubbish deal. I'd wait until you hear from the Nigerian prince in exile who will give you £20m if you lean him your bank account details so he can have his secret stash deposited there from which you'll get your £20m.

. Do not reply or respond to any emails with this individual. That’s what they are hoping you will do. Just report it as a phishing scam to [email protected]

Hi Cillafan, this is indeed a scammer. The Phillipines is a hotbed of industrial style scam factories and you have been targetted. Cease and desist any further contact with them and report the matter to your bank in case they have skimmed any of your personal details.

Definitely a scam but be alert to other scammers trying it on as it's likely they will pass your details on.
