Surely there is a Solicitor or some professional dealing with your sister’s estate? I agree it is a scam, but pass all relevant details over to them. They should be able to find out if she had any shares ever!

A scam, do not send money, also if you were to send money, you’d soon find you’ll have to send more. speak with someone at your bank if you are really concerned.
Do not send money do not answer anymore calls.

My daughter works for a company in the City that deals with shares as they're all listed the the LLOYDS REGISTER ..and
you never pay anything they're based in the City financial district…and they normally only get in touch when someone wants to buy out a particular company whose shares you may have..

Under no circumstances send any money …… wicked people!!!

Thank you for the replies so far everyone, they're much appreciated, I had my doubts from the start, but like the naive fool I am, I was swept along with it, how this carol got my late sister's details I will never know, no deposit money has been sent (thanks to my bank), and never will now, I will send her an email (then block her) saying I'm dropping out of the transaction, not that she deserves a response, attempting to scam a person in mourning (which is now worse, just when things were getting better) is absolutely atrocious

They will then have your email address from there there is every possibility they could cause untold damage.

You can also check the FCA’s warning list (register.fca.org.uk/s/) for unauthorised firms.

Trust your bank — they’re trying to protect you, not obstruct you.

I would just block the email address. No reply to Carol is needed.

If said shares are yours you can sell them to whoever you like. All you need are the share certificates which dear Carol didn’t send you probably because they don’t exist. Furthermore any shares and properties held by your sister should have been declared on probate and she may not have left you anything anyway so they would not be yours. These so called shares do not exist and are a total scam so be thankful to the vigilance of your bank. You could always speak to a financial adviser but I’m pretty sorta in they would say the same.
