Please, though, whether you revealed bank details or not, get in touch with your bank and alert them to a potential scam attempt to your account. They will put a note on it.

If you downloaded a form they sent by email, they now have your email address, probably your home address too, if you added that on the form, and your signature, along with your phone number - quite a lot of info for a scammer.

Contact your bank ASAP.

I’m sorry for your loss, and these scammers really are despicable - they don’t care that you are grieving, but use your vulnerability to get at you.

No, they have no Bank details, when all this transaction business was going on (which I was duped into), she said I would have to open an account with HSBC as my regular Bank (TSB) wasn't recognised, I did open an online account with HSBC, thankfully the fraud team were on their toes and prevented the money being sent.

Yes, I would now agree, I've read scammers use legitimate businesses, offices, to try and con people, the woman she's obviously in cahoots with also had a Philippino accent, though when she called it came up as 'New York', probably phoning from the Philippines !

My brother in law did something similar.
It was a scam call regarding 'supposed' selling of certain shares. He would make a fortune.
Foolishly he signed the form which was sent. We told him it was a scam, but he was totally reeled in by a woman who 'was his friend', and trying to help him.
He took a cheque to the bank to pay, but thankfully, the bank refused to deal with it.
He blocked the number, and never heard from them again.

Yes, I got 'reeled in', she sounded very pleasant and friendly on the phone, though the lengthy chats about insurance companies, hostile bids, etc; just wore me down, I've certainly learnt my lesson, it'll never happen again !

Perhaps you could contact the BBC's Scam Interceptors or look on their website for advice.

It's surprising the number of people who get taken in and believe their banks even the scam interceptors themselves etc are the scammers. The scammers are clever and ruthless.

Just refuse to engage with her, block her number. Be aware!

For goodness sake, ignore her. What form have you signed if she’s only been phoning you, how have you managed to sign one? It’s a total scam.
You really must stop engaging with these people, they are trying to frighten you, threatening you with non-existent legal action, but they don’t have a leg to stand on. Ignore, ignore, ignore.

Not at all, thank you for your kind words. all this scam business has caused me a lot of anxiety, I'm mentally weak and vulnerable as I'm in deep mourning, I just got swept along with all, foolishly

Of course you can't be arrested. The shares she wants you to sell do not exist.

Thank you for your kind words, I am very worried, maybe a month will pass, I've heard nothing about 'legal action' against me, then put all this upset behind me

At the end of the conversation when I said I can't part with the money, and been told it's a scam (by the good folk here), she went 'okay', and slammed the phoned down, I really hope that is the end of it.

I'm really not, I put my mobile on block, but she kept phoning, I just wanted to get her out of the way for good, that's when she threatened legal action, I am genuinely naive about legal matters, and I'm certainly not laughing, I feel like crying, my hands were shaking when she put the phone down abruptly.
