I had a fairly large sum (to me, anyway) in a 2 year Fixed Rate Bond. This matured on 12th August and since then I have been trying to close the account and have the money to my Barclays Current Account.
They wanted proof of identity, fair enough - emailed photos of Driving licence, Passport and for good measure, my Council tax Bill.
Rang today but apparently, my account was compromised last year, yes, I remember someone purporting to be from KR , ringing me in the middle of the night and asking some daft questions. So I hung up and rang the Fraud department. AND, because of this breach, they are now holding my money back.
I have been on the phone all day with no solution. .
The battle will resume tomorrow

I feel your pain. This type of thing is so frustrating these days. It’s better to be safe than sorry of course but everything takes so long. And if you’re like me you’re impatient to get things done.

I too have savings accounts with KRBS and find it much easier to visit a branch rather than phoning or emailing.

We have Isa in Kent reliance but did this in person despite a journey to the nearest branch . Have always found them very helpful snd hope you can dort the problem out today.

Could 'Which' help you? I mean the organisation. They often deal with problems. I don't know whether you need to be a subscriber.

RFE I think I need to be a subscriber.
If I don’t get any joy today, I will be contacting the Financial Ombudsman
Thanks x

Finally , got my money.
I shall be depositing it in one of the local Banks/Building Societies

We are a town on the edge of London boroughs with villages all around but nearly all our banks and building societies have all closed down or moved towards London dont assume your local branches will remain local.
