I'm acting as guarantor for my son, he's moving to a new flat.
What an absolute nightmare - I've been trying to do it since 7.30 this morning.
The letting agents send you a link to an online referencing agency where you have to set up an account and divulge all your personal information. You are asked if your savings are in a UK bank account. Well some of mine are and some of them are with National Savings & Investments. But you can only choose "Yes" or "No".
I took a risk and pressed Yes.
The you have to send them statements of all your savings accounts. Well 2 of my accounts - one with the Nationwide and the other with HSBC are only statemented once a year - both are due statements next month. Both have been topped up considerably this year so last year's statements are nowhere near correct.
You don't get statements for premium bonds so I sent them a photo of the page that shows my holdings but that's not good enough apparently.
Nationwide can generate a statement for me but it takes 48 hours, ditto HSBC but may take longer.
I'm tearing my hair out here, don't know whether to scream or cry.
Anyone else had to use one of these online agencies?
