Re: Invitation to Participate in Research Study
I am writing to invite your organisation to participate in my PhD research project entitled: The Impact of Caring for Grandchildren on the Health of Grandparents in the UK. This study is being conducted as part of the requirements for my doctoral degree at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Stirling.
The aim of the project is to examine how caring for grandchildren—particularly in high-intensity arrangements (30+ hours per week) or as a full-time primary carer—affects grandparents’ health and wellbeing.
I am seeking your assistance to engage with grandparents supported by your organisation. Participation will involve activities such as completing a survey and/or taking part in an interview. Each activity will be designed to minimise burden, requiring no more than approximately 30 minutes of participants’ time.
All ethical protocols for research will be strictly observed. This includes providing participants with a project information sheet and obtaining informed consent through a signed consent form. Anonymity and confidentiality will be fully assured unless participants explicitly grant permission otherwise.
I would also be grateful if you could advise me whether your organisation requires any additional internal approval process before participant recruitment can proceed.
