So who's up for this meet in Birmingham in October. Would love to see you all, especially those that gave me great encouragement when I needed it most to thank you personally.

Hi NannyBarbara, I used to live in Hollywood many years ago, Douglas Road. Moved several times since and ended up in Italy via Warwick, Chorley Lancs and Manchester!!

NannyBarbara Mon 16-Jul-12 14:38:12

I'm in Hollywood, Worcestershire, UK, born in Birmingham but half of me is Norfolk as my Dad was from Great Yarmouth. Love Norfolk, Devon, Cornwall and Cumbria, amongst many others.

Hi matson I'm in Darlington – a short distance from Redcar. Mr absent and I are intending to visit Redcar when we get some warmer weather. He remembers it from childhood, but I've never been there. We did go through it on the train recently when we went to Saltburn.

Nealliedean I am with you on the accents , not only where you actually live but ALL accents I think they are great , I was originally from Birmingham many many moons ago , but still find people pick up on my accent , which is great I think , even though it has obviously softened over the years . smile

Hi Nonuhave lived in Norfolk for 41/2 years, and definitely found my outlook is different, but maybe not in a bad way.
I am an Essex girl and we where warned that we would find it difficult to integrate and be accepted.we haven't really experienced any real problem..the biggest cold shouldering Came from the other incomers into the village, who having retired came in and took over and upset the older staid locals,by changing things to suit themselves and driving at speed in quiet lanes.
Have found that the sense of humour and outlook is dour and very canny with any deals involving money, and that the attitude is quite aggressive....but we love it here and I find people anywhere on the whole will respond to a smile and a friendly comment.....and I just love the different accents from different parts of the region sunshine

Live in Suffolk now , one question , do you think where you live influences your outlook on things , I do my outlook has changed , they are not so chatty as in Essex or Birmingham so sometimes it can be a bit hard going

I'm in a very wet Coventry .. so what does summer daylight saving add up to in the UK .. an extra day of rain!

matson Thu 12-Jul-12 19:08:23

soop Wed 11-Jul-12 14:21:50

Kintyre is basking in bright, warm sunshine. Rory rolling around in the grass like a wee kitten [which he isn't] smile

I live in Oxford - too grey and miserable down the High Street to see the dreaming spires, though the Cowley Works and John Radcliffe Hospital are visible for miles

whitewave; I must have missed your post.Delabole used to have the best fish and chip shop in the world until it changed hands. It also has one of [if not the] biggest quarries the world, hasn't it? Trebarwith Strand is one of my favourite places in the world. I used to live at St Tudy, but it was only for a couple of years between @1969/71. I worked at Tintagel and Boscastle for a while as well. Also Delabole had the first wind farm I ever saw. I've been longing to go back there for ages now; it's sort of calling to me. I have a friend who's just moved to Dartmouth which is kind of on the way [?]. It used to make me chuckle that no one from outside Cornwall used to know how to pronounce it.
