Another Essex girl, born near Chelmsford. I've lived in Toronto, London, a smallholding on the North York Moors, Great Ayton, Bahrain, Hertford, a village near Royston, Cambridge, Dorset and now Chichester, which I'm really enjoying as a place to live.

Adelaide, South Australia. Have one son in London and visited quite a few times, love to travel, especially India. Last year I was in London when the Royal Wedding was on. because the grandchild was just 1 year old and hated being in the car very long I didn't see much outside of London, though in the past had driven quite a lot of it. Next time I hope to see more of the smaller country places I haven't been to.

Hi new people - Gransnet is great! Most people are really kind, full of good, friendly advice and a few are entirely nuts!! Just like real life really! grin

Annobel Sat 14-Jan-12 10:53:46

Good to meet you flowerfriend . Don't worry, you don't have to be a comedy turn or completely barmy but you may have to tolerate some people who are! We are a great support group and I love it. No matter what you want to talk about, you will find someone who will respond. Just look at the list of Forums and then the threads that develop within them!

Hello !

Suuze , the street lamps at the crossing points in Poynton are about the ugliest I have ever seen - apparently an addition to the original scheme owing something to Health and Safety wonks who thought people crossing wouldn't be sufficiently visible after dark. The success of the scheme as a whole remains to be seen, and many local residents are highly sceptical about it. It certainly looks good and so much more open than it used to be. Just been in Waitrose myself, stocking up after Christmas.
I used to live in Bramhall (where the boys and, later, GD went to the High School) and spent 8 years on Stockport Council.

Pelawjohn, we often stay in a hytte in Sveio and we have a boat there that we use to go to the supermarket and visit the islands. I think we have visited Bømlo. My husband has lived in Norway (Elverum, in the east) and he speaks the language well enough to have been mistaken for a Norwegian, we have many close friends living in different areas of Norway and try to visit once a year. How did you come to be living there? envy

Suuze Thu 29-Dec-11 13:35:30

I think there's quite a gathering of 'Gransnetters' around the Altrincham area isn't there? I live near Altrincham and work in Stockport so i agree with the lovely comments about Poynton - I am easily pursuaded to enjoy a costa there and buy a few bits in Waitrose. The street lighting is quite unique tho, don't you think?
