Went to Bowes museum on Saturday with our Australian visitors. A beautiful autumn day but somehow the drive seems longer these days.

Yes, I know, I have to drive over the dales to get to Barnard Castle. I just suggested that because Broomsticks lives in Barnard Castle.
Have you been up in the library in the Bowes Museum? You get fantastic views from there.
I am trying to find the link between my Milner family and John Bowes mother, Mary Milner. There must be a link somewhere because my great great grandfather had a brother called Bowes Milner, born in the same year as John Bowes. The story is that their father was Mary Milner's brother.

Lovely to hear from you, Bowes Museum is beautiful however many Gransnetters prefer to use public transport than drive - problematic in areas of N Yorkshire with so many small towns and villages plus of course the weather in winter...what does everyone think about Harrogate or Ripon?

Maybe we could pencil in a coffee meet up in between lunch meet-ups? Or a Kidzplay play date if your GC are similar ages, we often take the boys when we are looking after them..another option would be to meet with the Middlesbrough gransnetters, I keep saying I will go but something always seems to come up and make it impossible.

Hi absent kind of you to let me know about the get togethers. I noticed these before joining GN and your leaving party.

Your life in NZ sounds wonderful although very busy with Granny duties. I am in a similar position with my 2 GDs and although at times exhausting, I wouldn't change a minute of it.

We are currently entertaining relatives from NZ who have come over for a family wedding which is sure to be fun and noisy. DH and I both have family in your part of the world

Agus The Scottish and the North-east English grannies are great ones for get togethers which are huge fun and very noisy. Do join them when they are organising one – you'll have a smashing time. Sadly, I can no longer come along as I have emigrated and live the other side of the world.
