Born in Nottingham, but moved before I was 20. Have lived in Dover, Lee on Solent, Rosyth, Reading, Limavady, Woolwich, Folkestone and finally Kent, where we've been for the last 25 years. Now planning to move down to Devon to be a bit nearer the children and their children....Looking forward to that.

Hi Grumpygrandma I live in sunny Sussex-by-the-sea too smile
Hove to be precise - although I am flat-hunting and probably moving to Worthing. (Cost of property basically) I grew up in Brighton, have lived in Horsham/Hurstpierpoint/Burgess Hill/Hassocks/Haywards Heath - as well as numerous places elsewhere in the UK (as far up North as Northamptonshire!!) and overseas. Nowhere beats Sussex-by-the-sea grin

Welcome Grumpygrandma On the whole I think you'll find us a friendly lot! smile. I originate from Sussex but have been far away for over 30 years but still visit the Lewes area frequently..

Hello all, I'm new here - are you friendly? I'm from Sussex, anyone else from Sussex-by-the-Sea? Looking forward to sharing my thoughts. First - why is there no space for adding great grandchildren? See you.

Have only seen one other person from Bedfordshire. Didn't realise how wide spread this great site is. Any one else from around mid beds?

Hi, don't post very often( husband, 5 children, 5 grandchildren, a mother, voluntary work, 2 cats and (very) part time work for husband sometimes get in the way!) but there don't seem to be many people from the boring middle of the country. I was born in Derby, moved to north Wales, back to Derbyshire, Leicestershire, married and moved to Coventry, Shrewsbury, Melton Mowbray, Melbourne (Australia), back to Leicestershire. We have spent the last 32 years in and around Loughborough and love it!! We are lucky enough that most of our family are within easy reach and we have lots of friends and acquaintances around.

Ariadne Thu 01-Sept-11 15:53:35

I'm in Kent, near Rochester, but preparing (slowly) to move to Devon.

Baggy Thu 01-Sept-11 14:57:48

Baggy - I must raise my hand and add Scottish tablet to that list. Tis the stuff that dreams are made of.

Baggy Thu 01-Sept-11 12:17:28

Fresh air is what Scotland does best, along with haggis, Aberdeen Angus beef, shortbread, oatcakes, whisky, mountains, water .... oh, and rain. smile

Laolao Thu 01-Sept-11 05:56:40

I'm a gran-in-waiting, and new to Gransnet. I am from South Africa (Cape Town) moved to London in my twenties and lived there for 35+ yrs. Last year DH and I moved to China and am now living in Beiing! Quite a challenging environment - wish some of you could send me some decent fresh air!smile

Anne58 Sun 21-Aug-11 16:15:23

Resident of North Devon, been here for around 23 years. Prior to that, Middlesex (although apparently it doesn't exist anymore!)

Granny23 Sat 20-Aug-11 23:26:18

Central Scotland, in the Hillfoots near Stirling. Never moved more than five miles from where I was born and far travelled daughters have now come 'home' to bring up their families so we are quite rooted for the time being.

West Norfolk, since marriage 38 yrs ago , originally came from Bucks.
