Hi glassortwo, apparently it was manic around the stadium of light because my sister was there. I live at the other end of town, where A19 meets A690 so it was not an issue.

Born in Hexham Northumberland, lived in Consett Co. Durham, moved to West Palm Beach Florida USA then Kingsbridge Devon, moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and now back in Hexham.

I have moved to Poole in Dorset from Bermondsey, South London.
Now looking at ways to make new friends and trying to find a job that allows me to visit my family in London a couple of days a month at least!!

Hi all. am in Sidcup, which is either Kent or London, its on the borderline!
My immediate family is all from South east London, but going back a couple of generations, they came from all round the country, so people were very mobile, looking for work, and not as some one said all staying close to home.

harrigan Bet its been busy in Sunderland the last few days with Take That visiting, I drove through 9.30 Sat morning and there were people heading to the stadium with banner's must have wanted an early start!!

A mackem is a person who lives in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear. Normally I would refer to myself as a Wearsider.

Am in Powys. Don't see many others in Wales! Wonder why.

Anyone from South Wales? We live in Porthcawl, and absolutely love it!

I live in Hertfordshire but was brought up on the Isle of Wight and try to go back there as much as possible. I also have family connections in Weymouth. I'm torn between wanting to be by the sea yet wanting to be in shouting distance of London - not that I go there much in spite of good intentions. My children live quite close by which is another reason for staying put - we support each other and also come in handy as baby sitters and are part of our grandchildren's lives.
What are your thoughts on upping sticks and going to live where you want [rather than be forced by circumstance], or staying where you are to be near family? Although I don't like where I live I think I'd miss them dreadfully if we moved away even though sometimes I feel that enough is too much!!!!
