Butty The Northumberland coast is a secret we like to keep to ourselves, you would love it, and we could have Northumberland meet ups wink

Butty Tue 08-Jan-13 08:31:47

RINKY You make the Northumberland coast sound wonderful. smile

Granny23 Tue 08-Jan-13 01:30:35

Rinky not that amazing when you consider that this thread has been on the go since May 2011 - the month when Gransnet started.

JAB Tue 08-Jan-13 00:55:54

Rinky I think you meant to send your message to Butty, but I agree with you Northumberland is beautiful, we visited a lot when our son was based at R.A.F. Boulmer, think it is one of the top 5 of my loveliest places.

RINKY Mon 07-Jan-13 23:41:36

Wow. Just realised there are thirty one pages here. Amazing its filled up so fast

RINKY Mon 07-Jan-13 23:39:26

JAB. I would recommend Northumberland coast to live as beautiful, wild and windy. If you like warm and sunny probably not best place but for big skies and sheer raw radiance it's hard to beat.

I know I've put this before....

I'm in Hythe, at the bottom of the country just outside the New Forest, there don't seem to be many Gransnetters down this way? Would be great to meet up if there were.

Do we have anyone on the Isle of Wight? Only a quick ferry ride away smile

glassortwo Mon 07-Jan-13 23:01:01

JAB just the thing to look forward to. smile

JAB Mon 07-Jan-13 22:57:17

jeni andmaniac it would be great to meet up sometime but I can't make any arrangements for a while, as you may have seen from another thread I have to go into hospital to have a kidney removed, don't know when yet, but it leaves me rather tired, and specialist has warned I will take a couple of months recovering, so perhaps we could keep meeting up on hold for now, but it's a lovely thought and will give me something to look forward to.smile

glassortwo Mon 07-Jan-13 22:54:41

grin rinky I will let you know when we get another meet up sorted.

RINKY Mon 07-Jan-13 22:51:15

Hey, glassortwo. Might have known you were in northeast with a nickname like that.!!
Love to join up if another meeting is arranged.

Welcome home, jeni. x

Butty Mon 07-Jan-13 19:05:05

JAB I lived in Street for a while when my sons were small. As we're hoping to return to England in the next year, (or so, finger's crossed) we think Somerset/Devon may be where we decide to buy.

If anyone can give me some convincing arguments about where else we might settle, I'd love to hear them. smile

Maniac Mon 07-Jan-13 18:44:26

agapanthus Mon 07-Jan-13 18:24:41

Think I wrote this on another thread....but I'm from Devon.

jeni Mon 07-Jan-13 17:11:07

JAB you're not far from me. I'm in Portishead and maniacand Barrow are between us.
My maiden initials were JAB, I changed them for JAW! I don't know which is worse.
Incidentally I gather the tribunals for whom I work will be sitting in w-s-m magistrates court soon. I expect they'll send me there as I'm the nearest. Perhaps we can meet?

JAB Sun 06-Jan-13 22:30:52

Jenduham, there is a place just called Street here in Somerset, and there is a street of shops and a large outlet centre, really worth a visit if ever you are this way, it is also where Clarks shoes are made.
