I live in Someset and pleased to see this forum already set up. Thanks Gransnet.
I would love to hear from anyone in my part of the country with a view to further frienships not just on line smile

Used to live in Horn St Nunney back in 1960s and worked for Dave Lovell who had the pub at Nunney Catch. Worst winter of 63 sent me back up to London area.

Don't worry about me though. I'm happy shooting arrows on Sundays now (imagining the target is a certain examining organisation who cause me work!)

Ariadne Sun 11-Aug-13 17:02:35

Galen I have noted difficult dates, and will try to work round them! Promise.

susieb755 Sat 10-Aug-13 22:29:49

Hallo Marton, Maniac mentioned you were on here. I believe I live fairly close to you and our Bristol gang tend to meet up quite a bit. Do come and join us on the Gransnet Bristol section and you will find out more. Meanwhile hope to see you around and speak to you soon flowers

Hi Heleena, I'm in Bath (BANES).

Oldgreymare Sat 19-Jan-13 22:51:20

jerryatric most people seem to have done the opposite (London to Frome) some quite famous ones at that!
Hello Sylvie there has been talk of a couple of West Country get-togethers (Exeter and Bristol) maybe they will become a reality once the weather improves. A group of us from N.Som did meet other GNetters in B/ham last October.... we had a great time.
Hello too to Vivmur a friend went to a boarding school in the area, I'll check to see whether it was the same one as yours.... you never know!

vivmur Sat 19-Jan-13 22:14:51

I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I have three grandchildren, one here in Vancouver, one in London, England and two in Lyon France.

We have managed to get Skype set up so that we can have nice long chats but nothing quite makes up for real time does it?

I am new to this site and look forward to reading all the posts and articles.

I see messages from Somerset, I went to boarding school in Weston, right above the old pier which I believe is no longer there.

Nelliemoser Thu 10-Jan-13 10:23:38

Have you Somerset folk dried out yet?

jerryatric Thu 10-Jan-13 07:33:19

Lived in small village of NUNNEY near Frome during 1960s then moved to village of Coleford about 5miles away. sadly the lure of moving back to London area was too great to resist.

Banananana Fri 01-Jun-12 05:38:44

HI Oldgreymare

Great to see another Gransnetter who's living just around the corner somewhere. This sight is very interesting, must admit I do forget to log in and keep up with what's happening.
Like you say we gotta have a laugh, your name made me smile, reminded me of a dear friend I've made not so long ago through unexpected circumstances, we've shared many a giggle, reminds you that there are so many people out there that we're not aware of who can enrich our lives. Really odd but you could be her for all I know - now wouldn't that be uncanny?
sunshine - lets hope we have lots coming our way for the weekend/coming week.

Oldgreymare Wed 30-May-12 08:33:20

Banananana... I also live in Frome, and have been a Gransnetter for about a year. Great fun, lively 'debate' ( and a good deal of pontificating grin). Greatnan's jokes always restore the balance and remind us that life should never be too serious.

Banananana Mon 14-May-12 03:32:58

Thankyou for the warm welcome Maniac.

Maniac Sun 13-May-12 12:30:25

Welcome Banananana
I'm in Backwell 0n A370 south of Bristol.I've been to some voice workshops in Frome (St John's Church hall I think) but it's quite a drive.
There are a few of us in the Bristol area. We're trying to arrange a get-together.
In the meanwhile I'm sure you'll find wonderful friends, support and fun on this site

Banananana Sun 13-May-12 10:28:59

Hi everyone, have only just joined and It looks as though there hasn't been any posts for some time. I'm in Frome in Somerset, would love to meet other nans but only have evenings free as self employed and busy during the days. smile

jeni Tue 24-Jan-12 19:18:48

Banwell. My maternal family tree goes back to 1600 in Backwell. Must say I am kept pretty busy with family and u3a. I tend to meet people through shared interests rather than same situation. To have only 'being a gran' in common? does it work?
