Are there any Gransnetters in the Suffolk/Essex area who would be interested in meeting up for lunch????

nelliedeane Mon 02-Jul-12 17:22:00

Hi maggie just posted similar on what I've been doing today...lovely meeting up and I also would love to meet with others in our area, enjoyed our tea and chat and we were so good virtuously refusing cake and muffin...I afraid I spoilt it when getting my shopping and ate a flake on the way home, and I don't really eat chocolate you must have been a bad influence on me....grin

MaggieP Mon 02-Jul-12 17:15:53

It was great to finally meet up with nelliedeane today over a cuppa in Swaffham. We had time for a chat and thanks to GN for giving us opportunities to meet other Gransnetters!
We look forward to an Autumn gathering with merlotgran, GrannyHaggis and any other newcomers who live in East Anglia.....smile

Thanks to you both, GrannyHaggis and merlotgran for your company at the Cutter Inn in Ely, such a delightful setting with the boats in the river just outside the open doors. Nice to have met you, thanks to GN, we had a good lunch and were sorry that nelliedeane was unable to join us as she had family things to sort.
We hope to meet again!smile wine

glamma Bainbridge and Fenwicks are the best places in Newcastle, yes I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason.

glammanana Wed 27-Jun-12 22:38:02

Just think glass my life would have been completly differant,we even got as far as getting the carpets measured from a store called "Bainbridges" is that the right store ? but never mind everything is for a reason isn't it.smile

glassortwo Wed 27-Jun-12 22:36:53

green I have not lost my marbles, I am not as good as I used to be a multi tasking and trying to have a conversation with DH on the phone and type a message is obviously to much for me grin should have said

green well shh I dont think anyone is listening wink

glassortwo Wed 27-Jun-12 22:33:11

glamma can you imagine how different your life would have been if you had ended up in Acomb, you could have walked into Hexham from there for school grin I drive through there quite often on the way to my sisters. In fact its a great place to park up and watch the Hexham firework display on bonfire night.

glassortwo Wed 27-Jun-12 22:28:44

glass grin well shh I dont think anyone is listening wink

greenmossgiel Wed 27-Jun-12 22:09:08

glass, I was going to keep everyone in the dark about your zit! winkgrin

glammanana Wed 27-Jun-12 22:06:54

glass just remembered the reason why we didn't go ahead with the purchase of the property in Bishop's Hill in Acomb (just outside Hexham) in 1999, the snow is really bad and transport dire during the winter and I had horrible thoughts of the DCs not being able to get to school (shock horror)lol I would have been just a short distance away if we had moved,we decided on Spain instead (bit of a differance eh?)smile

nanaej Wed 27-Jun-12 21:58:00

I'm sure many of us are feeling very envy now!

greenmossgiel Wed 27-Jun-12 19:11:59

I cannot tell a lie, 'twas I, who texted glass, absent! Merely to put her at her ease.....and not to plant a spot upon your nose, by way of spells....wink! I met up with Gally again today - we had lunch and a good old gossip. Hope to met up with more GN's as time goes on. smile

merlotgran Wed 27-Jun-12 18:44:59

It was lovely to meet you both,GrannyHaggis and thank you, MaggieP for organising it. Lovely lunch and plenty to talk about. Here's to the next time.

GrannyHaggis Wed 27-Jun-12 18:23:20

Just back from a lovely lunch in Ely with MaggieP and merlotgran. Thank you for your company ladies and looking forward to the next time!

absentgrana Wed 27-Jun-12 17:10:25

Met up with glassortwo on Monday for lunch when we talked for England. Thank you greenmossgiel or whoever it was who texted glass while she was on her way to suggest that I might have a giant zit on the end of my nose. I didn't, but a small spot appeared this morning – witchcraft or what? I'm looking forward to the next time and to meeting any other Gransnetters in North Yorkshire, County Durham or even Northumberland who feel like a day out somewhere. smile

I would like to meet up but Ely is too far away. Anyone for a meet up in Kettering or near to Kettering?
