Gally Runrig still going strong, they celebrate their 40th anniversary this year. Party on the Moor nr Inverness. I have followed them since 1989 and have been to over 150 gigs. absolutely love them.

I have booked at the National Gallery cafe/restaurant for 12, on Saturday 11th May at 3pm. At the moment we do not have as many as that, but it can be adjusted later, and I plan to publicise it a bit for the benefit of newcomers.

If you can make it that day could you confirm? Thanks.

I am a fairly new gransnetter. I joined ages ago but found it dificult to just jump in on threads where everybody knew each other but this new local section looks easier I would love to come for tea.

I have a photo of my 3 girls in Runrig T-shirts circa 1989 at Edinburgh Castle; in fact they played at our village Festival about 20 years ago. Are they still going?? You should come to one of our get togethers Flower plenty of cheapo SlEasyjet flights into Edinburgh and free B&B

Mine is the week after, but I've no plans to go anywhere so that might be OK.

Oh dear. Will be away as it's my birthday weekend - leaving on the 8th. Never mind, plenty of cakes for the future no doubt.

I am about to phone the National Gallery to ask about Saturday afternoon, 11th May. The previous weekend is the May holiday, a bad day as people are off somewhere. Any earlier than that and we will still be digesting after Darlington.

Travel - It is not far along from Waverley station, further from Haymarket but there are buses. In a car, the best bet is to go to a Park and Ride at the edge of town.

Time - 3pm - 5pm.

If we order individually, those who want a full afternoon tea can go ahead, those who want a cuppa and a cake can choose that.

Anyone any difficulties with that? (Speak now or forever . . . )

Good idea, Marelli a regular coffee and cakes, once a month, with "specials" when ever it seems like a good idea.

I'm fine for any time of the week, and agree that although having something extra special, such as tea at Harvey Nicks, would be lovely, it's important to get people interested without feeling as if they wouldn't be able to afford to join us very often! Members could always do something 'special' for a special occasion, perhaps?

I quite like the idea of the free wifi at the National Gallery if indeed there are people completely new to GNet. I'm not particularly fussed about having a formal afternoon tea. Ordinary and would be fine.

Weekends are best for me as I work during the week but there is always the possibility of taking a day off.

Another question for you. Is it better to meet during the week or at the weekend? Are more people at work or at home during the week?

The Local sites are supposed to be setting up regular coffee mornings for local members. Wherever we meet we could be looking at it as a test run for regular and predictable events.
