Meet ups/where are you?

East Midlands (ish) meet-up anyone?

Started to feel really envious of everyone else meeting up so wondered if there was any mileage in trying to organise an East Mids meet-up? Not sure how many people live within striking distance.

We don't even have a 'local' GN in Leicestershire, Notts seem to have two people meeting and Derbyshire doesn't seem much better - so, is there anyone out there who fancies meeting somewhere in the East Mids.

We have fairly good rail links, lots of roads and even an airport! grin

Sorry, hubby`s just this minute had a phone call from the surgery, they want him there next Tuesday, just before lunchtime, so I can`t come after all, just when I was actively considering coming!

Tegan Wed 12-Jun-13 16:10:12

number; It would be lovely if you could come...I'll pm you with a few more details.

OOPS, there I go, repeating meself again! grin

What time are you meeting up ladies, and approximately how long for? I`d love to come, and hubby says he`d drive me there, but he doesn`t want to hang around waiting for me, but it seems a bit much to expect him to drive an hour and a half each way four times in one day if I`m only to be there for a very short time.

Aha; it was on the Nottingham one. Someone asked about a local meet up so we replied to that but no one has replied back. Not sure these local groups are working [?] And, can't get more central/accessable than the airport really....

Tegan Wed 12-Jun-13 11:47:17

Ooops; can't see it now..perhaps I'm having a senior moment....

Tegan Wed 12-Jun-13 11:43:46

I put a message on the local Derby forum [as has kitty] but with no reply sad.

gracesmum Wed 12-Jun-13 11:19:49

Is there really nobody in the Derby/Nottingham/Coventry area who would like to join us? My geography is a bit shaky - so I could be missing out other local forums. Is it worth posting on one or all of them?

Tegan Wed 12-Jun-13 11:13:20

We'll just look on it as a trial run wink...we can look forward to meeting specki another time; it's far worse that she'll miss her family do at the weekend sad.

kittylester Wed 12-Jun-13 09:50:11

I'm still ok smile

specki - that's a blow, for us and for your visit to your family! sad Let us know when you are coming again.

Sorry, I've been missing in action for a while - looking for a nursing home for Mum!

gm, Tegan - I'll pm you my mobile number.

Anyone else like to swell our numbers - or should be look for that cauldron grin

Tegan Tue 11-Jun-13 20:27:43

Yes; I'm still ok smile.

gracesmum Tue 11-Jun-13 17:15:30

sadsadsad Is it permissible to say that when the French strike, they really know how to do it?
Tegan and kitty - still up for it?

specki4eyes Tue 11-Jun-13 16:27:00

Devastating news for me - Air traffic controllers today have caused flight cancellations over france - my trip being one of them. No alternative flights available which tie in with the family event at the weekend so I've very sadly had to give up the idea.
Say 'cheers' for me when you meet on Tuesday. sad

Tegan Sun 09-Jun-13 23:17:39

Just across the river. We could wave to each other smile. I used to go to Streetley a lot and that only took 45 minutes [I know that because it was always a one cd journey, except when I had a fixation with an S CLub 7 single and played it on a loop all the way there].

specki4eyes Sun 09-Jun-13 22:40:19

No other days for me I'm afraid - not this trip! I don't know when I'll next be back in the UK this year. So its Tuesday 18th or nothing! Don't worry Tegan - EMA is only 45 mins from Lichfield on the A50 - lets keep it at the Thistle for this meeting. All agree?
By the way, one of my sons lives in Borrowash - not far from your neck of the woods!

Tegan Sun 09-Jun-13 18:48:54

There's nowhere more central for everyone to get to that I can think of [and it would have to be eastwards because of gracesmum having to travel that way]. Think will have to leave it at the hotel but don't rush around if it's too much; there's always another day.

specki4eyes Sun 09-Jun-13 18:22:56

Hi Tegan - so kind of you to think of me. Well - EMA isn't the best place for me but I'm reluctant to change things this late in the day. If you all have any better ideas, obviously I'll go with the consensus but don't want to cause ructions and get everyone confused. My nearest city is Lichfield on that day, so for me, anywhere in that area would be fine. What does everyone else think?

Tegan Sun 09-Jun-13 18:02:22

Is The Thistle still the easiest place for you to get to, specki? Would there be anywhere that would mean you had less driving around to do?

specki4eyes Sun 09-Jun-13 17:13:21

Now I KNOW I'll only have time for lunch! My DS told me today that he is having an operation on his nasal passage on tuesday 18th! He was going to drive himself there and drive himself back afterwards! after a general anaesthetic! So Mum's taken over and I'll drop him off - come to lunch and then go and pick him up ... how glad I am that I can do it!

specki4eyes Sat 08-Jun-13 19:25:01

Tegan, Breedon is a good suggestion but could we make it our NEXT venue? As its my last day in the Uk for months, I'll only really have time for lunch - hope you understand. I'll pm you my mobile number too.
I'm sure that as we're lunching at the Thistle, they won't charge us to park there will they?
Yes - turn into the airport and turn right at the first roundabout into the Thistle car park.
Great that you're coming gracesmum- we would have needed a cauldron otherwise!

granjura Thu 06-Jun-13 16:55:36

I meant turn left out of the airport arrivals if you come by plane! If coming by car, turn right into the airport and right at the roundabout, and the hotel is there.

Tegan Thu 06-Jun-13 16:43:46

Oh; hang on..did you mean the airport charges £5 or the hotel. My daughter takes her son swimming at the hotel and doesn't pay [mind you, I'm not getting in a swimming costume to save £5, but people might pay me £5 not to...not a pleasant sight sad].
