Reading meet-up

Dustyangel is going to be around at the end of the month so it would be good to have a meet-up while she is in the country. Reading is very easy to get to by train (from Penzance to Glasgow !) so everyone is most welcome. Friday 25th October (before half term) would seem to be a suitable date and we thought we could meet at John Lewis for coffee and then go elsewhere for lunch for those able to stay. The Surrey Grans met at Bill's and as there is also one in Reading I believe, we could go there but we are open to suggestions. Please add your name if you are interested and able to meet up.If you can't manage that particular date we will probably have another one before Christmas.

Rest assured we shall all deny all knowledge of you as security escort you out dustyangel smile
Yes I'll be lunching too Gorki Nothing moving on the baby front at the moment so it looks as if Thursday's C section will go to plan!

dustyangel Mon 21-Oct-13 21:36:10

Maybe I'd better tie a scarf to my bag. I have visions of myself going round the coffee shop asking ladies if they are noodles and gorki.grin

Gorki Mon 21-Oct-13 20:25:41

Will do grin.
noodles usually arrives first and sits somewhere in the middle facing the door and then we de-camp to a round table at the side. Well, that's what we did last time smile

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and I'll be staying for lunch.
All though I feel as if I know you all, if Coastwalker can't make it, I haven't actually met anyone yet. So look out for a short sighted person lingering near cheerful groups. smile

noodles Mon 21-Oct-13 19:07:30

Yes, please.

Gorki Mon 21-Oct-13 15:16:07

Will you be staying for lunch noodles?

noodles Mon 21-Oct-13 15:09:24

Looking forward to meeting up again.

Gorki Mon 21-Oct-13 14:22:06

I am looking forward to meeting everybody again on Friday in the John Lewis coffee shop in Reading at 10.30 or thereabouts.
Please let me know on this thread or by pm if you are able to(or want to) stay for lunch afterwards at Bill's as I think it would be sensible to book a table.
I think everyone knows at least one person attending so there shouldn't be a problem of recognition like last time when an unsuspecting member of the public was nearly included. She was obviously looking for someone but when one of us approached her she said she was waiting for a business meeting but agreed that our morning looked like being more fun than hers.grin
Anyone in the Reading are (or anyone passing through )would be very welcomesmile.
See you then.

Deedaa any news on the baby front yet?

Gorki Mon 14-Oct-13 08:15:38

Thanks for letting me know coastwalker. We very much look forward to seeing you for coffee and I'm sure you'll enjoy re-visiting Reading. it's changing all the time especially the station which is now huge.

coastwallker Mon 14-Oct-13 08:01:08

If you are going to book lunch don't add me in as I won't know for sure until next week. I'm happy to just join you for coffee and then a bit of shopping. I have only lived away from Reading for the last ten years so it is good to go back sometimes and see what has changed.

Gorki Sun 13-Oct-13 22:20:22

Sorry you won't be able to make it Penstemmon but I hope you have a good week-end in Whitstable. It was good to meet you last time so perhaps you will be able to join us in December.

Penstemmon Sun 13-Oct-13 22:11:03

Hi, I would love to join you again but will be in Whitstable for a weekend away with friends.

Gorki Sun 13-Oct-13 22:02:33

In which case I think I will book Deedaa as it may not be possible to get there early. Some people may not be able to stay for lunch so it wouldn't be right to cut short their morning. At the moment our meetup will be attended (sounds a bit formal, sorry ) by dustyangel noodles Deedaa..Gorki and possibly coastwalker
Is anyone else able to join us?

Deedaa Sat 12-Oct-13 23:05:59

I've always got a table at Bill's without any trouble, but I think it's best to get there early.

dustyangel Fri 11-Oct-13 16:33:04

Sorry I won't get to meet you this time Gadabout.
Don't know if we would need to book. I suppose it depends how popular Bill's is.

Gorki Fri 11-Oct-13 15:27:38

Sorry you won't be able to join us Gadabout. I enjoyed meeting you last time. We may arrange another one for early November. Watch this space !

GadaboutGran Fri 11-Oct-13 14:53:01

Sorry I'm not free on the 25th but have a good meet-up. 'Til next time!

Gorki Fri 11-Oct-13 11:09:24

Do we need to book a table for Bill's ?

Gorki Fri 11-Oct-13 08:15:47

Shall we say 10.30 (or thereabouts) at the restaurant in John Lewis and then on to Bill's when we are ready ?

Deedaa Wed 09-Oct-13 22:32:03

Apparently they spent 4 hours in the hospital last night but got sent home again. Who knows what may happen!!!

Gorki Wed 09-Oct-13 16:35:06

Exciting times Deedaa.
Look forward to hearing the news on 25th

dustyangel Wed 09-Oct-13 12:46:14

It will be great if it all works out, let's hope that baby arrives on time!

Deedaa Tue 08-Oct-13 21:52:54

25th would be good for me as my son's girlfriend should have had her baby in Royal Berkshire on 24th so I should be able to kill several birds with one stone smile

Gorki Tue 08-Oct-13 17:30:58

It would be lovely to see you anno. Actually, I myself live only about 4 miles from Sandhurst so yes it is very convenient for Reading

annodomini Tue 08-Oct-13 14:50:43

If I happen to be in either Didcot or Sandhurst when you have a Reading meet-up, I will happily join you. Reading is so easily reached from either.
