Gransnetters in High Wycombe Bucks?

I don't live in High Wycombe but my daughter,son-in-law and grandson do! Maybe we could arrange a meet sometime when I'm called upon to do 'Granny Duty'!

Is the train station close to the town? Are there loads of stairs at the station or is there a lift? I ask because I have mobility problems.

I used to have a boyfriend in High Wycombe. Well, he was a teenage lad and we were friends back in 1963 when I was 18. We met on a YHA holiday in Carinthia, and one day he said to me "You have beautiful big brown eyes - just like a Jersey cow". Luckily I have a sense of humour and laughed my head off. He insisted it was a compliment, and one day after the holiday he came to Yorkshire and drove me down to the Cotswolds to show me - a Jersey cow!! (They do have lovely eyes)

We lost touch, as you do at that age when you live a long way away.

Robin Gee, where are you now? Probably a Granddad of many - he was a twin if I remember rightly.

I did love the area - very pretty, but very different from Yorkshire, which has a different kind of beauty. There was a big protest going on at the time - there was an arboretum with trees of so many different kinds and a developer was going to cut them down. I don't remember the outcome.

It was a posh boarding school for blind and partially sighted girls: my sister got a full scholarship but she hated it, apart from the fact they got to go horse riding. She used to visit Robin's family, and once they gave her a violin, which she still owns.

She left after her O levels to go to my old Grammar school, Heckmondwike, for her A levels, which was very innovative back then in the mid 60s, for a totally blind schoolkid to go to a sighted school.

Funny how the mention of one place can bring back so many old memories.

28 miles. Never been to Milton Keynes. I did like High Wycombe though.

Charleygirl, I have never been to the train station, presume it should cater for everyone though. Alas, Joan, pretty is not a word I would use for High Wycombe, I can think of a few other words though.

I was thinking of the Cotswolds. Grummy. Mind you, all this is about 50 years ago!!
