Is there anyone out there in Herts? Does anyone fancy a meet up? Coffee/lunch/afternoon tea?cupcake

BasketCase Sat 01-Mar-14 18:43:41

I am in Ware so Pearce's/Fanhams would be very convenient for me. Happy to go further afield if suits others - could offer a lift if that would help anyone.

jacqui60 Sat 01-Mar-14 11:21:19

Yes, it is a very big county! I really hope we can get a few groups going! Maybe someone will pop up a bit nearer to you.

mrshat Fri 28-Feb-14 21:23:48

Ware is a bit of a trek for me, from Watford, but as I am really (unintentionally) very busy during March, I will keep my eyes open and might be able to join you if you meet again later in the year - Big county is Hertfordshire! grin

jacqui60 Fri 28-Feb-14 20:15:05

Excellent Biddy/Basket! That's three anyhow! Where are you? Is Ware ok for you?
I am sure we can find a date that suits us all!

BasketCase Fri 28-Feb-14 15:38:12

Sounds a lovely idea - please count me in. I am new to the area and also to Gransnet. Can be quite flexible re venue, but like Goldengirl am a little more busy than usual over next few weeks but could juggle things if necessary. (PS I am "the artist previously known as OldBiddy" but can't seem to log in as such, hence new identity)

goldengirl Thu 27-Feb-14 19:29:30

Tuesdays, Thursday and Fridays are generally the best days but that said its currently dependent on the date as I've become a little bit more booked up than I intended! If a few dates are suggested hopefully one will suit or make it possible to wiggle and jiggle a bit ( now that would be a sight to behold!)

jacqui60 Thu 27-Feb-14 18:27:28

Hi goldengirl! I am happy with either! I hope we can get a few of us to make a little group but sometimes it's nice when there are only two or three ! From little acorns........
What are the best days/times for you?

goldengirl Thu 27-Feb-14 17:42:54

Pearces or Fanhams Hall sound good for afternoon tea.

jacqui60 Thu 27-Feb-14 13:30:45

Herts meet up!! Let's do it!! There are a few of us who have shown an interest, so let's do it. I'll make a couple of suggestions to get started so please respond with yay, naye, or alternatives! There is the Pearces farm shop cafe on the A10 near Puckeridge. Rosey Leas at Wickham Hall at Bishop's Stortford. Or how about Fanhams Hall in Ware; really lovely but has to be pre-booked so we would need some definite commitment (I am happy to do that but others may prefer a more casual drop-in arrangement?) Please come up with other ideas and the best days and times for you. I can't usually do Mondays or Tuesday mornings but otherwise I'm very flexible. Hope to hear from you all! smile

goldengirl Wed 08-Jan-14 17:38:40

Count me in. My best days are Tues, Thurs and Fris except for next week when I'm at a conference

OldBiddy Wed 08-Jan-14 16:06:21

Definitely would like to meet up, jacqui60. Happy with wherever people would like to go; Fanhams Hall is doing a special offer for traditional afternoon tea until the end of January (£16 rather than usual £18) but still might be beyond some poeple's budget? Flowerofthewest - hope your DH's radiotherapy is now completed and all is going well.

jacqui60 Mon 06-Jan-14 11:51:56

sunshineHerts meet up...let's do it! OldBiddy, goldengirl, silverfoxette, flowerofthewest, Sparklegran, stacigran; anyone else in Herts! Would any of you like to meet for coffee or lunch? Perhaps in Ware as that seems fairly central? We could have coffee at Van Hages, afternoon tea at Fanhams Hall, lunch at Westmill Farm or a pub? Any other suggestions? Please get in touch as it would be lovely to meet new friends! cupcake

Flowerofthewest Thu 28-Nov-13 14:27:27

We certainly are Jacqui. He has done so well.

jacqui60 Thu 28-Nov-13 12:49:49

Gosh, your DH has had a terrible time! Excellent news though, that the doctors are so confident it is curable. Modern medicine is marvellous, isn't it?! You must both be looking forward to Christmas and some sort of normality. Have you got nearby family for support?

Flowerofthewest Thu 28-Nov-13 09:03:11

Oh, Olds and Jacqui, he is fine thank you. The cancer is very low grade (3:3) and non aggressive, he is travelling to Mount Vernon every day for 6 mins radiotherapy. The consultant assured us that it is a cure they are going for and not a maybe. He was driving there (I am a non driver) but has decided to take the shuttle bus which picks him up between 7 and 8am and drops him back at the door. The driving was tiring him. After last years terrifying few weeks of him arresting and then 6 weeks with pneumonia this seems so much less stressful. It should be over by Christmas. Then back to normal. whatever normal is.

jacqui60, thanks for the words of welcome to Gransnet. Have lived here for nearly a year and loving it after a lifetime in east London. Neighbours are lovely and people very friendly. Not been to Fanhams Hall yet, but sounds enticing! Flowerofthewest - hope all goes well for your DH. Such a difficult time. Don't forget to look after yourself!

mrshat Wed 27-Nov-13 20:44:30

Hi - I'm a Hertfordshire gal too - but way down Watford way!!! I would be happy to go as far as Hertford and places in between. Ware and Sawbridgeworth are a bit too far in the winter (how pathetic do I sound?) grin

jacqui60 Wed 27-Nov-13 19:27:01

That's good news, tho it must be a worrying time for you both. Is it at the Lister?

Flowerofthewest Wed 27-Nov-13 16:16:47

It is going well, apparently it will be a cure (prostate)

jacqui60 Wed 27-Nov-13 12:18:25

Sorry to hear your DH is having treatment, hope its going well. sunshine. We could arrange something for mid dec which is only a couple of weeks away (shock! Horror!). If he is a willing chauffeur!

Flowerofthewest Wed 27-Nov-13 11:34:07

I don't drive but my darling DH would run me anywhere within reason ie not Thurso! grin He is, though, having radio therapy every day except weekends until middle of December

jacqui60 Wed 27-Nov-13 11:20:09

Hi Oldbiddy! Great to hear from you! I am new too - to Gransnet, not the area; I was born in Ware but am now in Sawbridgeworth. How long have you been in Ware? I hope you get to meet some nice new people through Gransnet! Have you been to Fanhams Hall for afternoon tea? it's truly scrumptious and they will even cater for difficult customers like me, with Ceoliacs.

OldBiddy Wed 27-Nov-13 10:43:54

Good morning, all. I would love to hear from/meet up with others in the area. Am new to Gransnet (and Hertfordshire) so would be a great way to meet people and make new friends. Live in Ware so not far from silverfoxette and goldengirl. Happy to offer lifts, but hate driving in the dark, snow, etc.

jacqui60 Wed 27-Nov-13 09:42:31

Hi flowerofthewest! I also sent you a message as I saw your earlier thread. Did nothing come of that attempt? There doesn't seem to many herts girls on here at the moment, but I'm trying to drum up a bit of interest. I'm in Sawbridgeworth and we have silverfoxette who replied yesterday who is in Ware so perhaps if we can get a meet up organised it could be somewhere in the middle! Fanhams Hall in Ware is fabulous for afternoon tea! Have you any nice places out your way?

Flowerofthewest Tue 26-Nov-13 22:08:52

Hellooo I have tried a few months ago for a Hertfordshire meet up. I'm game depending where it is. I am in Letchworth - on the mainline from Cambridge to Kings Cross.
