Elegran and I are working together on the December meet up where I have been investigating the potential for a theatre visit. Elegran will arrange a venue for a meal either before or after once she knows where and when. There are already a few people considering this who are on the previous link of Edinburgh meet ups. Any more interests will be warmly received. smile

I've been trying, but it's not working. I'll get someone to help me with it if I can.

If you have a smart phone you can upload to GN - just go to my photos, upload more photos, click on choose file, click on the photo.

Marmight Sun 21-Dec-14 17:06:26

Upload to PC / iPad and then to GN?

Marelli Sun 21-Dec-14 17:02:43

They're on my phone, you see.

Marelli Sun 21-Dec-14 17:02:08

Oh - I'm daft! I didn't mean the photos were on Facebook - but I was wondering if I could upload them through Facebook onto Gransnet.

janeainsworth Sun 21-Dec-14 16:32:20

Sliding in at the last minute again to say how much I enjoyed the day. Many thanks to Elegran and Elizabeth1 for organising it.

My train was delayed by 30 minutes so I could have stayed in the pub after all.

Just got home ....thank you again Elegran and Elizabeth1 for organising - as others have said, the ballet was magical and the food at Vittorio's excellent.
Thanks too to Marmight for your generous hospitality.

You are very welcome, both of you! And yes, bags...that Florentine was rather good.....tchgrin!

Elegran Fri 19-Dec-14 14:52:57

Oh! I'd forgotten the Florentine. I must unwrap it from the napkin and unstick the shreds of paper. Thank you Marelli

Thanks, everyone, for a great day! I also had a lovely catch-up with DD2 afterwards and am just home. marelli, thank you again for that Florentine! I had it for breakfast and, yes, it was that good smile.

Nutcracker was wonderful. I woke up this morning with one particular piece of music still playing in my head! The meal delicious and the company as lovely as ever.
Elizabeth1's feet were encased in very pretty stilettos...and thankfully it was HER idea to tramp the length of George St tchwink and not anyone else's (eg mine)! After having left The Dome because it was jam-packed, we plodded into Le Monde where it was also jam-packed. On the way out again, I took a swerve round a big plant thing, thinking there was a bit more room to reach the door but slammed right into a plate-glass screen which was behind the plant! Thankfully my hand was in front of me - but today my knuckles are swollen up as if I've been having a jolly old punch-up! tchgrin And all that without even a sip of the hard stuff! We ended up at Waverley Station with MaggieMay51, where we did have a wee snifter. Maggiemay51 was a good lassie though tchwink!

Elizabeth1 Fri 19-Dec-14 13:52:42

Had a really good day yesterday, the Nutcracker was fabulous and thanks to Anne for googling the whole story while we had a wee toot at the station while waiting for our train. The meal - well what can I say about that - scrumptious elegran I would go back there again a very good choice. Ma pair feet after losing a stone since they were first bought were wallaping about and rubbing my skin to bits. Well fitted shoes from now on are what's really needed before I wander around Edinburgh again. Thank you to the lovely gransnetters ma pals. Have a great Christmas everyone. tchsmile

Maggiemay51 Fri 19-Dec-14 13:49:18

Problem seems to be alright now (fingers crossed)
Forgot to say the Xmas lights in the Dome were fantastic well worth a peek

Maggiemay51 Fri 19-Dec-14 12:04:07

Having some difficulty with the site don't know if its my computer

Maggiemay51 Fri 19-Dec-14 11:45:04

Thank you all for wonderful time yesterday
The ballet was fantastic (my first time) and I plan to go to a lot more when I'm down at DDs in London
Meal was great with good company ( what more could you ask for) and I look forward to the next meet

Tried to post some photos but they said they were too large
I don't know what to do about that confused

Jane10 Fri 19-Dec-14 11:15:55

Glad the ballet and restaurant were good. At this time of year The Dome and Tiger Lily are absolutely packed out, you`d have had no chance of getting in. Sorry you couldn't find each other and had such a long trek. George Street is looking smart though isn't it? Somewhat chilly those cold looking but trendy lights I always think. I prefer more vulgar brightly coloured ones but then I`m not in George St`s target demographic!

Elegran Fri 19-Dec-14 11:09:44

Yes, a smashing time. The nutcracker was really good, some beautiful sets and the dancing of course was excellent.

Delicious food at Vittorio's on G4 Bridge and much talk. I shall try to post photos on my profile after I post this.

Certain people had time to spare before their train left, so decided to take a taxi to the Dome for a drink. Baubles and I said we would walk and meet them there. Arrived at the Dome - packed out, but no GNers. A voicemail said they had gone to try Tiger/Lily - at the other end of George street. Walked the length of George Street to find them returning - Tiger Lily packed out too. All walked back to station (burning off the calories from Vittorio's).

I don't know whether the Station Buffet was also packed out - I left them for a number 12 bus and a sit-down.

Glad I wore flatties and not stilletos.
