Ok, We have finished digesting the the Missoni Bar's blue ice lollies and organised the theatre visit in December, now to turn our minds to October.

There were six or seven people interested in meeting then. I shall PM you all to check that you are still on, but meanwhile would anyone else like to join us?

Possible dates are:-
The first week (any day)
The 13th, 14th and 15th
The week from 17th to 23rd (any day)

Any preferences within those dates?

When and where shall we meet?

Our silver locks will glimmer all the way round the Grassmarket, Marmight - apart from those who aren't silver of course envywink!

Elegran Sat 04-Oct-14 10:21:52

We've got it right for once!

Marmight Sat 04-Oct-14 09:57:12

Looking forward to tomorrow. Apparently 5 October is 'Silver Sunday' when 'oldies' are encouraged to get together to combat loneliness smile

Am apprehensive- think I`ll go early and lurk looking out for a large table of assorted Grans. I`ll know you by the universal wearing of cardis, flat shoes, waving away of the drinks list in favour of " a nice cup of tea" etc.
I do like a stereotype! wink

Marmight Mon 22-Sept-14 09:57:44

Just thinking : if anyone needs a bed for the night - either before/after or both, just let me know - more than welcome!

glassortwo Mon 22-Sept-14 08:14:18

envy cant believe I am away and ffinn is going to be there too sad

Marelli Mon 22-Sept-14 08:13:00

Maggiemay51, you're definitely included! See Elegran's post on Sat? I think there are 11 of us altogether, but we have a booking for 12 in case anyone else wants to come along. smile

Maggiemay51 Mon 22-Sept-14 00:14:50

does that 12 seats include me?

Elizabeth1 Sun 21-Sept-14 17:38:56

ffinochio thank you so much for your kind words. Will look forward to meeting up with you - Edinburgh is a beautiful city with loads to see and do. Elegran can find the most delicious places to find succulence wine brew where we can chat till our hearts content.

Marelli Sun 21-Sept-14 16:18:56

Thank you so much, Elegran! Wish you could come, too, moomin - but we'll have a great time in December! Looking forward to seeing you then. smile

moomin Sun 21-Sept-14 14:52:22

envy wish I could come. Never mind, looking forward to December and the theatre smile

Marmight Sun 21-Sept-14 12:56:10

Woop woop! Thanks Elegran for organising - yet again flowers

Elegran Sun 21-Sept-14 12:04:20

Twelve seats booked for lunch at Gennaro's at 12.30 on the 5th! That leaves room for one more if anyone gets a last-minute urge to join us.

FFinnochio Do you want to meet up a bit earlier at somewhere you know rather than finding your way completely blind?

Elegran Sun 21-Sept-14 11:41:53

That sounds like a suitable secret greeting, Jane10 The police station os just round the corner should we accost a stranger and they run us in as agents provocateurs.

Brethren might be wrong though. Should it be sisters? Can't think of a parallel with brethren.

Jane10 Sun 21-Sept-14 09:03:51

Being a miserable sort I`ll probably be wearing black (as usual) or may wear a bright splash of darkest navy blue. I wonder if we should have a code phrase to mutter sinisterly like in spy films eg " The grey fox seeks her brethren." The correct response could be "Is that you hen?" hmm

ffinnochio Sun 21-Sept-14 08:25:41

Very much looking forward to meeting you all for the first time, and hoping I don't get lost! It'll be my first visit to Edinburgh, so look out for a travel worn granny clutching a street map.

Congratulations Elizabeth! sunshine

Brilliant Liverpool folk song Elegran the lyrics are fabulous.

Elegran Sat 20-Sept-14 21:46:00

I liked the older song too, which was a Liverpool folk song and told the story of the Maggie May who plied the streets of Liverpool and was arrested for "robbing a homeward-bounder".

Lyrics at ingeb.org/songs/nowyoujo.html

Not that our MaggieMay is anything at all like that one!

Elegran Sat 20-Sept-14 21:37:06

So MaggieMay makes eleven. I've been out today so have not yet booked, but can I assume we are all OK for Gennaro about 12.30? will book it tomorrow. I think I shall say twelve in case anyone else joins us.

I am so looking forward to seeing these new faces (as well as the old familiar ones, of course)

Elizabeth1 Sat 20-Sept-14 19:39:26

Welcome Maggiemay51 looking forward to meeting up with you on the 5th. wine by the way I just love the song by Rod Stewart.

Elizabeth1 Sat 20-Sept-14 19:36:29

glassortwo thanks for your congratulations. I'm in bed now catching up with my favourite programmes. I was given the brand new baby this morning at 5.30am after saying how the proud parents were managing the feeding programme on their own. There was me holding the baby until number one child woke up - crept into mum and dads bed then patiently waited until mum woke up. What an experience wink

Keep an eye on this thread, Maggie51? Looking forward to meeting you. smile
