Hello Marty and all newbies- yes please do pitch right in and get to know us[tchmile].

Hi Marty I too am a newbie, been a granny or nana as we prefer to be called in the north east of England. I too have friends in the USA from Texas with whom I take a walking holiday once a year usually doing about 10 miles a day, so I'm not ready for local older people clubs either.

Hi everyone. I am originally from Nottinghamshire but lived in Cheshire for many years bringing up family and now have moved to Australia to be near my daughter and family, although not sure if we are going to stay here. I was glad to find this forum. There are thins going on for older people here but it's mostly senior citizens centres etc which we really don't feel ready for yet! I'm with Marty1937!

Hello Marty1937. I like that number as it is the year I was born.
Welcome to friendly Gransnet. We like Americans, or anyone from anywhere come to that.

Hello Marty. I hope you will enjoy being a Gransnetter. Lots of us have transatlantic families. My son and family are in California.

Hello! I have cousins over there, as does my OH, and we love to laugh at each other's countries strange little ways and foibles with each other.

Hello Marty - where in the USA are you from? My son and his family live in Virginia so we visit them quite often.
Welcome to GN.

Charleygirl Fri 21-Nov-14 21:14:20

Welcome- as far as I know there are members from all over the world.

Marty1937 Fri 21-Nov-14 21:07:29

I hope it is appropriate for me to join. I'm from the US and was relieved to find Oldies Magazine online. For me, it is either read/join in your interesting forums or toddle on down to the community senior center, which I have been avoiding like poison.

I'm just not ready to don old brown clothing, take off my makeup, let my hair go gray, and be fed free senior meals!!

There are not many visible "old people" where I live. There may be a law against being over 55.
