Lovely day here!

rose he spent so much time doing everything but work that when the finals were looming upon him he panicked somewhat and spent night and day revising drinking coffee and coke by the bucketful. The upshot was that I had a sad little voice on the phone one day saying that he had been in hospital as there was a question over whether there was problems with his heart!!!!

Silly b-r. He stopped taking all the stimulants and hey presto! Kids eh!!

Hello, I live in Dorset but lived in Plymouth in the early 70's when my DH was stationed there in the Royal Marines. Love the Hoe and Barbican and we do still visit.
We lived both near the Hoe and on Mutley Plain. Happy memories.

Lots of environmental science up there whitewave grin

whitewave Sun 29-Mar-15 15:15:59

I know, my son was at Plymouth doing environmental sciences. He seemed to spend most of his time on the moors cycling.

If you haven't been back to Mutley since childhood, you would hardly know it now. It is studentsville these days, along with so many other areas of Plymouth that are in easy reach of the university.

When I was a child I used to be taken to Mutley by an Aunt to visit a super toy shop where called Wheelers I think. I remember she bought me a desk and blackboard and easel.

rosequartz Sun 29-Mar-15 13:34:39

I lived in Mutley for a while and used to work on Mutley Plain

whitewave Sun 29-Mar-15 13:22:53

I was born in Plymouth in a nursing home on Mutley Plain -- before the NHSshock showing my age!

Hi Babs - I'm from Plymouth too and, like you, it is my adopted city as I've lived here for 38 years! Where were you before? We came here from East Essex, near Maldon.

BTW the room price includes dinner. £70 dinner is for non residents. So not quiet as jaw dropping as it seems.

Ariadne Thu 12-Mar-15 09:14:26

Hello, Babs and welcome - I'm in Bideford. Were you here a year or so ago? Just curious because I was organising a meetup in Exeter then and there was someone with a name similar to yours, with whom we tried to make contact. Probably got it wrong! smile

annsixty Thu 12-Mar-15 08:33:52

In that case nina I won't intrude but I hope you have a wonderful time.

ninathenana Thu 12-Mar-15 00:19:55

There`s posh, Ninathenana, staying on Burgh Island! We stayed in Bigbury-on-Sea many years ago, walked across to the island at low tide, it`s a lovely area of the country.

hildajenniJ Wed 11-Mar-15 16:01:13

I'm really looking forward to visiting Dartmouth in September. We haven't seen my DH's cousin since the last big family wedding, which was a good few years ago now. While we are "down south", we are also going to RHS Wisley as my DH is a keen gardener.

loopylou Wed 11-Mar-15 15:16:24
