Anyone up for a Monday meetup in Edinburgh?

A recent meeting with a GNer ( is that the word?!) revealed that she cant find any GNs in the west of Scotland. She's through here in Edinburgh every other Monday on Gran duty and I was wondering if any of the more local Grans would care to join us? Maybe a coffee or lunch in a hotel (as she'll have the angelic baby GD with her and it might be easier to accommodate the pram than in a cafe.)

If great to see you, dunit, and to meet your granddaughter - I think she made a conquest or two among the restaurant staff. I look forward to coming through to the west some time.

A Belated Thankyou to J10 and Elegran for the meet up in Edinburgh.
It was lovely to meet you both for a couple of hours and have such a lovely lunch in an exceptional location. Felt as though I had known you both for years. Will get something organised for anyone wanting a visit to the West coast as soon as I have dates from family re BB sitting duties Holidays etc. Many Thanks again.

Hi yes its 12.30 for lunch. Could meet earlier for a tiny drink though?

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Fri 10-Apr-15 09:55:08

All set J10 looking forward to chatting to you again and meeting Elegran and Elizabeth1 if she manages. No J Jingles so will be there on time. Did you book for 12.30 ?

Elegran Fri 10-Apr-15 09:48:23

I shall be there. What time are we booked for? (not that it matters too much, if we are too early we can get a drink first)

All set for Monday ladies? The table is booked. The Royal Overseas League club is 4 doors along from the corner of Frederick st. I spotted it yesterday. It looks like its about the last proper old building left in Princes st. The views should be magnificent. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Haven't been through the west for ages! smile

Not to worry BTRU, a get together in the west sounds like a good idea.

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Fri 27-Mar-15 18:20:03

Thanks for doing that J10. Sorry not to be meeting you Baubles but as J10 says I only BB sit every other Monday. Will be looking into you all getting a visit to my neck of the woods in the near future so hopefully can meet you then.

Jane10 Fri 27-Mar-15 14:52:28

Sorry Baubles its just that Mondays are the only day Dunit is in Edinburgh (and only every other Monday at that). It would have been so nice to se you. Maybe next time?

baubles Fri 27-Mar-15 14:48:44

Sorry but I have commitments on that day. Mondays generally aren't free, perhaps another time.

No sooner said than done. I must say it does look a lovely place and I couldn't choose from the menu I found on their website. Should be good! I've requested a highchair and space for the pram.

Elegran Fri 27-Mar-15 13:37:58

Sounds good to me.

Jane10 Fri 27-Mar-15 13:29:31

OK will book for 4 of us (&pram!) on 13th April. 12.30ish?

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Fri 27-Mar-15 12:54:36

Tried phoning ROC a few times but must have been busy times. Got through today though and they are happy to oblige with highchair. If it could be mentioned at time of booking. As you say Elegran views are lovely. Looking forward to it.

Elegran Wed 25-Mar-15 19:08:45

I have been there a few times and really liked it. Have you looked at the website with the photos of the views of the castle?

I have never been there with a child, Dunit so I can't really say about that, but they are all very nice, and the dining-room has never been crowded at lunchtime, so there is plenty room for a pram or buggy. A phone call to them might tell you more?

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Wed 25-Mar-15 17:49:00

Up and running again ! I was trying (as advised) Jane 10 to shorten 'handle' and somehow got in a pickle. Lovely to hear that will get to meet a couple more Grans. Sounds like an lovely venue Elegran have you been before? Are they child friendly?

Jane10 Tue 24-Mar-15 19:53:06

Dunit (sorry can't cut and paste whole name on my mob) texted me to say she has internet probs so can't post at present but 13th April would be good for her. Sorry you can't come Marelli. Anyone else is welcome. I'll get on to the Royal Overseas club for a booking and keep you all informed.

Marelli Tue 24-Mar-15 19:40:47

I would have liked to have been there, but I'm taking elderly sister-in-law for hospital appointment. Hopefully will catch up with you all another time very soon, though!smile

Elegran Tue 24-Mar-15 14:27:19

Fine with me.

Jane10 Tue 24-Mar-15 14:04:23

13th April would be fine with me. Elegran and BiNtHeReDuNiT14 how about you?

Elizabeth1 Tue 24-Mar-15 13:25:55

I would be able to visit Edinburgh on 13 April - would be good to meet with BiNtHeReDuNiT14 and wee baby along with other gransnetters. Good reason to visit the beautiful city of Edinburgh smile

Jane10 Fri 20-Mar-15 18:18:33

Elegran has suggested we meet in the Royal Overseas League club in Princes St. Very straightforward to find, good venue, (lift for the pram btw)nice menu etc it sounds good. Either of those dates suits me. elegran is going to check with the Grans going on the Aberdeen trip.

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Thu 19-Mar-15 10:57:47

'Spotted' J10, Thanks for initiating. Back through 30th March then the 13th April. Where did a quarter of the year go?

Jane10 Thu 19-Mar-15 10:19:17

Not yet Elegran. We just met up this Monday so she wont be back through for a fortnight. I hope she spots this otherwise I'll PM her
