Hi debbie27, I am in Crediton. I can get to Exeter or Tiverton, let me know if you want to meet.

Hi, moved here 4 years ago believe it or not haven't made any friends yet. Would love to meet up with other grans, grannies, grandma's etc I live near Cullompton also Tiverton is not far,but can easily get to Exeter. Looking forward to hearing from others out there.

For me, not form!

grannyactivist Fri 15-May-15 13:23:47

Doing so much travelling to Manchester at the moment I'd rather keep closer to home so Exeter would be easiest form; however, I'll do my best to get to wherever the majority decide. I really would love to meet up again. smile

Just come back from Wales and seen this thread. If you do a Barnstaple meet I'd love to be included, Ariadne. I don't post very often, but I do check in to see what's happening whenever I can, although we've had such trouble with our old internet provider, I was unable to do so a lot of the time.
Exeter is a bit of a trek for me too but I hope you all have a great time.

Exeter is fine for me. My sympathies, Ariadne. It can't be easy rounding us lot up.. smile

AshTree Fri 15-May-15 09:47:53

Don't worry, Ariadne, it can't be easy trying to co-ordinate a meet up over such a wide area!

I'm obviously going to say Plymouth is easiest for me because I live there! But, seriously Exeter would be fine. Okehampton might be an idea, maybe more central for a lot of people?

And anyway, I will say here that my daughter will be having her first baby in four weeks' time and as she'll be a single mum, she's coming to stay with us for a while before going it alone. So it could well be that a) I'll be too busy, b) I'll be too tired, or c) both!!!

Atqui Fri 15-May-15 09:16:25

No need to apologise, and yes! the sun IS shining!

Ariadne Fri 15-May-15 09:07:49

Am being touchy, not really like me, and I am very sorry! blush grovelling apologies. Let's try for a consensus - I'll keep Barnstaple for a local meet up!

Which is easier for most of you - Plymouth or Exeter? Or somewhere else? Being geographically challenged, I need to be guided.

Happy Friday! sunshine

Atqui Fri 15-May-15 09:04:15

It may be just a question of timing Ariadne...as to who happens to see the post before it slides off. Personally, I dont feel like making the journey to Barnstable , but there may be others who live closer who would be happy to do so. I did enjoy the one in Exeter . Last year I suggested a meet up in Plymouth but there was no response. Busy lives??

Ariadne Thu 14-May-15 21:08:35

it is all do able. I did find the trek to Exeter rather tedious, though, and don't want to do it again for a while, so I'll leave you all to get on with it.

Hi Ariadne. I investigated trains and found it's quite easy to get from Newton Abbot to Barnstaple, change at Exeter. Takes under two hours.
Did you have a date in mind? Or are we postponing it for now?

Hello newist.... Yes, I know Decoy Park very well, and it is lovely.
I live five miles outside Newton Abbot and this whole area is very nice.
I hope you now live somewhere equally nice.

AshTree Tue 12-May-15 19:47:10

It would be a shame to abandon the idea. I agree with Atqui that perhaps we could try to find somewhere more central and accessible to the whole region?

newist Tue 12-May-15 18:55:46

Sorry to but in, henetha. I used to live in Newton Abbot, opposite Decoy Park, it was lovely

Atqui Tue 12-May-15 18:36:06

That would be a shame. Perhaps Exeter ( again) would be easier for greater number of people. There may be some Cornish folk too.

Ariadne Tue 12-May-15 18:31:28

Yes, Barnstaple is 10 miles from Bideford, but more central for trains and buses from up and down country. I came to Exeter St David's from there.

Shall we just forget it?

loopylou Tue 12-May-15 18:27:19

Are there any meet ups in the Bath/Bristol area?
Certainly I haven't seen any in Wiltshire sad

Atqui Tue 12-May-15 18:19:21

It's a long way .... Not far from Bideford? I was going to suggest Plymouth !!but can always have two!

henetha Tue 12-May-15 10:04:57

What sort of time did you have in mind? Lunchtime-ish? The spirit is willing (and happy) but it's quite drive from Newton Abbot. So, ummm.
not sure.
I will investigate the possibility of a train.

loopylou Mon 11-May-15 19:34:21

Even further for me unfortunately sad probably nearer four hours.
Train option expensive too.

AshTree Mon 11-May-15 18:51:14

It's a bit of a trek for me I'm afraid sad, around 2 hours by car.

Ariadne Mon 11-May-15 10:57:18

Bump

Ariadne Mon 11-May-15 09:09:18

It's time we in the South West met again!

After Exeter and Bideford, does anyone fancy a meetup in Barnstaple? Most trains / buses go through there, and there are lots of places to eat.

Let me know. grin
