Less than three weeks to this. I have seven names -

Annodomini
Marelli
Thatbags
Indigo7
Elizabeth1
Dunit
Elegran

I have booked lunch at the ROSL (from 12.30-ish) again, as that was the consensus last time we met. I said 8 of us, as there always seems to be someone to add. The numbers can be adjusted up or down, at any point. Is anyone else interested?

Marelli Sun 31-May-15 23:05:41

Ended tonight with no resolution. They're back again tomorrow. Elegran - are we going to be causing problems for ROSL with not being able to give them a definite booking?

Think this probably a no goer this time. No further news re-strike as yet, I think they will hold out to last minute to decide. Thinking our train, if leaving at around 4 would probably terminate at Glasgow as strike set to start at 5.
Don't the powers ' that be ' know we had an important meet up? Quite prepared to risk the bus but will go with general concensus.

Jane10 hee hee hee wink

Marelli Sat 30-May-15 22:19:06

OK! Hopefully, then.....

Elegran Sat 30-May-15 20:31:46

They have adjourned until tomorrow.

Marelli Sat 30-May-15 19:23:07

There's been nothing on the news yet - wonder if they're still discussing?

annodomini Sat 30-May-15 09:29:35

It happened to my sister a couple of weeks ago. She had train tickets for bank holiday Monday, heard about the strike and booked a flight (Heathrow - Edinburgh) then the strike was called off. Sod's Law!

Elegran Sat 30-May-15 09:19:26

Have just read that talks will resume today to try to avert the strike www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32941421 - so I think I shall wait for tomorrow to cancel just in case it all is settled. Don't cash in your tickets quite yet.

Elegran Sat 30-May-15 09:01:58

After thinking about it and hearing how everyone feels, I have decided to cancel this meet-up. Its a bummer but there will be other days. Sorry everyone, You were all looking forward to it as much as I was. The only ray of sunshine is that if your train tickets were already bought, you will get the money back with no quibbling. Spend it all on treating yourself.

Here's to the next time.

hildajenniJ Sat 30-May-15 08:06:10

I would love to have been able to come too. Trouble is, I have a long overdue dental appointment and can't cancel again. The poor man will think I don't love him. grin. Maybe next time. (Says she, wistfully).

Jane10 Sat 30-May-15 07:00:47

5.30 eh? Nice long lie! Not bad going under the circumstances!

Elizabeth1 Sat 30-May-15 06:57:58

Sorry everyone I'm having to cancel this visit to Edinburgh until the next time. Thank you Eleanor for your very kind offer of "digs" however I'll be unable to take you up on it this time. Please see PM. Hi everyone until we meet again.
If anyone's interested I'm at this moment up to my eyes since 5.30am
with baby stuff bottles, baby food and milk, sterilizer, dummies etc etc etc as I've had my 2 grandchildren staying overnight. Great fun and games. Love it. Take care everyone.

Marelli Fri 29-May-15 22:33:47

I've been out most of the day and have only just caught up with all this. I'm so disappointed. sad
Hopefully we won't have to wait too long until Anno can come this way again, and maybe baubles and even more of us can make the trip.

baubles Fri 29-May-15 22:14:14

Oh that's so bloomin' annoying and frustrating for you anno. sad

I do hope you get to come up another time (and I hope that I'm free then too).

annodomini Fri 29-May-15 10:36:21

So very sorry everyone. I couldn't risk not getting home on Thursday - things to do etc. - and the following days will be disrupted too because rolling stock could be in the wrong places. A reasonably priced seat was available on a flight to Manchester and I have taken advantage before the price rose again - I am sure there will be increased demand from business travellers. Incidentally, according to National Rail web site refunds will be given if you have already bought a ticket.

I hope we are not fated never to meet up. sad

Elegran Fri 29-May-15 10:00:34

That is dreadful! I have PMed everyone else, Anno It will almost certainly affect trains leaving before 5pm as well, because they will be en route when the strike starts. We could change the day - but you will only be around for a brief time, and others might not be able to make any other day either.

annodomini Fri 29-May-15 09:26:27

So far, not very good. Advice is not to arrange to travel on strike dates. This will probably affect the rest of you who are coming from outside Edinburgh. It will be so disappointing if our meet-up doesn't come off.

annodomini Fri 29-May-15 09:19:38

What next? The news is that there is going to be a rail strike starting at 5pm on Thursday. I'm panicking mildly and still looking for more information about how Transpennine Trains' schedule is likely to be affected. The 16.16 train from Edinburgh will probably be too late!

Oh dearie me!

annodomini Wed 27-May-15 22:17:38

baubles, I'm distraught! I'll just have to come again.

annodomini Wed 27-May-15 22:16:58

Just as long as you don't let me forget to catch my train home! Sometime around 4, I think!

baubles Wed 27-May-15 21:39:56

Sorry that I won't get to meet you this this time anno, I know you'll all have a grand day. brew cupcake envy

thatbags Wed 27-May-15 20:33:40

smile

Marelli Wed 27-May-15 19:53:26

Anno and I are 'sorted'! smile

thatbags Wed 27-May-15 19:46:23

We'll chink our coffee cups in greeting to all those who'd like to be there too but can't be smile

thatbags Wed 27-May-15 19:44:19

I think dunit and I will get to Waverley a little after twelve. It partly depends if we meet up with indigo en route. dunit was going to get back to me on that if anf when she can.
