Cant believe that its 2years since we had that great meeting in Edinburgh.

Think it was me who thought I had crunchy mushrooms on my plate never having had the pleasure of cooked chestnuts as part of a meal blush

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 21:38:41

That sounds like about nine people. Even if no-one else can come, we could get together for lunch, and if enough people are interested in an all-day thing, we could hire the same room again and have coffee, a couple of speakers, a daft game or two and some songs, plus all the blethering of course. (We can be labelled a "conference" again")

Count me in.

Marelli Sat 05-Dec-15 20:49:29

I can do April! It would be great to do that again tchsmile

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 20:42:20

I can't remember who enjoyed the crunchy mushrooms. I do remember that the lunch was a surprise, as we were expecting a sandwich buffet. It tasted all the better, including the "crunchy mushrooms"

Pittcity Sat 05-Dec-15 20:38:31

Was it Carigransnet who remarked on the "crunchy mushrooms"?

Elizabeth1 Sat 05-Dec-15 20:32:37

Oh yes please Elegran what a number last time. It was really good to meet up with so many gransnetters, to hear their stories and have a lovely meal. Me too please me too. roastchicken

Pittcity Sat 05-Dec-15 15:25:39

Give me a date and I'll look into it.

Galen Sat 05-Dec-15 13:54:12

I might be able to make it. I'd stay at the Mercure I think, the place we stayed although reasonable didn't have disabled facilities so I had to strip wash rather than shower.
( you all wouldn't need to bring clothes pegs for your noses then!)

Marmight Sat 05-Dec-15 13:21:53

Go for it Ele ......tchwink

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 13:13:29

Five if Pittcity can come in April.

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 13:12:39

That is four of us signed up in a couple of hours. So do you think it worth thinking seriously about it and starting a new thread with a clear heading to see how many would be interested?

ffinnochio Sat 05-Dec-15 13:05:23

April would give me plenty of saving up time for my travel pot. smile

janeainsworth Sat 05-Dec-15 12:32:47

April would be good for me too Elegran smile

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 12:26:14

A spring spectacular!

Marmight Sat 05-Dec-15 12:25:25

How about April? The Bridge may be open by then!! - and on a selfish note, I could come too......... wink

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 11:55:41

Pittcity you only saw what went right, not all the things that didn't!

Pittcity Sat 05-Dec-15 11:46:54

That would be fabulous Elegran.
Could we hire you out as a GN event organiser in other parts of the country?

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 11:38:38

It was 20 of us, wasn't it?

Elegran Sat 05-Dec-15 11:37:52

Do you fancy a repeat of that? Perhaps not in December - organising that could be hair-raising!

(Thinks - am I mad? Well at least I wouldn't have a dislocated shoulder this time)

Elizabeth1 Sat 05-Dec-15 11:25:50

Wow!!

glassortwo Wed 02-Dec-15 10:48:45

Thanks marelli first chance I have had to pop back. It was a great day thanks to elegrans hard work and planning.

Pittcity Wed 02-Dec-15 08:25:44

loopylou and other workers, Elegran organised a whole Sunday with speakers, singing and lunch for the meetup in question.
No reason why you can't organise something when you are not at work. What about an evening out or Sunday lunch?

loopylou Wed 02-Dec-15 07:48:48

How lovely!
I wish I could get to a southwest meet up but, like many others, I'm still working so it's difficult.
Once I'm retired (only another 3 1/2 years I hope) hopefully that'll change!

seasider Wed 02-Dec-15 07:11:36

About the same time we discussed having a North West big meet up but sadly it never happened. Maybe next year !
