Announcing the inaugural meeting of two Gransneters
in Abingdon this morning.
There must be more of you lurking
in the bosky environs of Oxfordshire, and "bohemian" and I
would love to meet you.
We thought Oxford might be reachable for everyone,
even those, like us, who are dependant on public transport.
The Ashmolian has a good cafe where we could meet, plus lots of fascinating exhibits to enjoy.
If the idea of meeting other solo members appeals, a pm to me might help to get this local group off the ground.
Gransnetters of Oxfordshire unite!
Hugs, Leonora 47.

Sorry, not keen on the Ashmolean. I found the food expensive and nasty. On top of that parking is difficult and I have to go to Oxford too often for JR appointments and hate the traffic.

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 22:35:03

Yes, I can do the 1st July or the 11 th or the 18 th.

Greenfinch Tue 07-Jun-16 22:20:33

I would love to meet up in Oxford at the Ashmolean. I will throw in a few dates to play around with e.g.Friday 1st July, Monday 4th July,Friday 8thJuly,Monday 11th or 18th July.Any thoughts ?

rosesarered Tue 07-Jun-16 19:56:12

if anyone is up for an Oxford meeting in the Ashmolean, either this month or July, put a few dates on here?
I think that more people would come to Oxford, as there is a lot to see after the meeting, and more buses go there.

AlieOxon Tue 07-Jun-16 19:42:10

Actually it did happen! Three of us, Leonora, M0nica (who gave me a lift) and myself. We had a great chat.
Talked about next time in a cafe in Abingdon, but no dates.

Today did not happen.Leonora is absent from the threads and has been for a couple of weeks.Perhaps she is ill, if so, get better soon and return to Gransnet.
maybe we can have a meet up in Oxford soon?

dramatictessa Tue 07-Jun-16 17:18:49

Hope today was fun. When's the next one?

Greenfinch Mon 30-May-16 17:07:53

Sorry l won't be able to make it this time as Abingdon is too far for me to come. Do have a lovely time and keep me posted if you arrange another one in Oxford.

dramatictessa Mon 30-May-16 16:57:48

Hope you all have a fun time. I can't join you this time, but keep me posted if you arrange another meet up.

rosesarered Mon 30-May-16 13:31:15

Hi Leonora, very kind of you to arrange things.I am sure I can make 7th June, so I will pm you anyway.smile

Leonora47 Thu 12-May-16 16:27:10

Just as I feared , fixing up a meeting for half a dozen busy Grans is exactly like juggling jelly.
Stand by for another date .... Tuesday June 7th for coffee @ 11o'clock . I have made a provisional booking for us to have use of the lounge, and hope that those who were unable to make, Monday May 25th will find that more convenient.
Regards to you all,
Leo.

Can do that day but not 'til 12.00 sad

Leonora47 Wed 11-May-16 14:07:23

Hello again. Sorry for long silence, but dodgy back playing up, and confined to bed.
much better now, and suggest morning coffee, [ brew] (instant I'm afraid) chez moi.
I'll throw Wednesday May 25th @ 11.00 into the ring. and see who catches it.
If you could send me a personal message, I will send you my
address and post code.
From previous experience of arranging get-togethers for a group, some will not be able to make it - but I'll be here, and I hope at least a few local Gransnetters will be able to join me.
Leonora.

M0nica Tue 10-May-16 08:24:41

Not at all dramatictessa, you are very welcome.

Have we got any nearer arranging a date?

Hello dramatictessa and welcome smile

dramatictessa Sat 07-May-16 15:36:02

New to Gransnet, happy to meet in Oxford or Abingdon, or arrange a meeting in Witney (where I live).

rosesarered Thu 05-May-16 20:36:59

that's a good name for a tea shop!

M0nica Thu 05-May-16 20:35:34

There is also a teashop in West St Helen's Street. All pretty teapots and traditional teashop menu. I can not remember what it is called. (Senior moment!!)

rosesarered Thu 05-May-16 20:35:29

Leonora , yes, that's a good idea.smile

M0nica Thu 05-May-16 20:33:42

Leonora, yes.

Leonora47 Thu 05-May-16 06:38:03

Whilst I remain keen to be part of the Oxford Gransnet get-together, I have been happy to notice that several of us live within easy reach of Abingdon; and that they have indicated an interest in a more local, Abingdon meeting.
The big question is, 'Where shall we meet?'
I may just have the answer.
Three years ago, I bought a flat in a
small block of retirement flats. One of the facilities of our building is a very comfortable lounge, with a small kitchen for
making tea, coffee and snacks.
We are to be found, just on the left, before Caldecott Road meets the Thames. ( OX14 5 5ET) Turn left into Mill Paddock.

I would be delighted to host a party of Gransnetters for morning coffee, or afternoon tea.
Would any of you be interested in meeting there?
Best regards,
Leonora.

Greenfinch Tue 03-May-16 14:42:18

Mondays are probably best for me too

Leonora47 Tue 03-May-16 12:33:52

I had no idea there were so many of us. ?
I am happy to fit in with any agreed
date or time.
If the Ashmolian is chosen, I could travel in by bus.?
