Anybody up for a North West meet up before we get busy with the Summer holidays?

seasider Thu 21-Jul-16 22:10:49

Lovely lunch in Bolton today with Rubylady, Nana3, Emptynester, Littlemisssunshine and Mazza. We forgot to take a photo!

grannyactivist Thu 21-Jul-16 10:47:34

Thinking of you all today at your meet-up and hoping you're having a lovely time together.

Hi Ladies

Unfortunately I won't be able to make today. Was really looking forward to it (if a little nervous ?)

Have a lovely day and hopefully another one will be arranged ?

seasider Thu 21-Jul-16 08:30:12

Hi everybody I will be coming with Littlemisssunshine today. Grammar can't make it this time . See you later x

rubylady Wed 20-Jul-16 22:59:08

Aw, Babs that is such a shame. Hopefully it won't be long before we have another meet, maybe when the schools go back? I hope all is ok. X

Babs1952 Wed 20-Jul-16 21:17:49

So sorry I can't make it tomorrow after all. I hope you all have a lovely time. Maybe next time. ?

Nana3 Tue 19-Jul-16 22:27:15

Yes ruby still okay, looking forward to meeting everyone too.

rubylady Tue 19-Jul-16 21:49:08

Is everyone still ok for Thursday? I am looking forward to meeting you all. smile

rubylady Thu 14-Jul-16 19:24:40

I'll PM my phone number in case you get lost. Don't worry, my voice keeps going so I'll probably end up bringing a pad and pen and writing my contributions down. Plus I have to go to hospital for a biopsy on Monday so will be feeling the after effects of that. But I have to do this, I have to get out and meet other people. I think we are all a little bit apprehensive of doing something we haven't done before, but hey, what's the alternative? Sitting on our own? We could end up with some really good friends who meet regularly and support each other. And it's ok anyway, I only bite people when there is a M in the day! grin

mazza245 Thu 14-Jul-16 11:52:17

It's only that you all seem to have been 'chatting' on here so know each other a bit but as I said, I've read everything but not contributed till now. It's finding the place for a start but I've got the satnav so I should be ok.

I'm normally a confident person (or I can put it on!) but it is a bit daunting! Never mind, see you there.

rubylady Thu 14-Jul-16 01:00:32

Don't worry Juggernaut I am sure this will be the first of many meets and you can join us again very soon. Lucky you though, being on a canal boat, very jealous, I've never done that.

mazza There's no need to be nervous, we are all in the same situation, but we are meeting friends so everything will be fine, don't worry. smile

Juggernaut Wed 13-Jul-16 18:15:32

I'd love to join you all, I'm in west Wirral, but I shall be on a canal boat heading back from Stratford upon Avon on the 21st...damn!

Nana3 Wed 13-Jul-16 17:59:43

mazza I'll be on my own too. I think most of us will be. Looking forward to meeting everybody too.

mazza245 Wed 13-Jul-16 10:54:01

I just wrote a long message and then it disappeared! I haven't time to do it all again so I'll just say that I am coming, on my own, a bit nervously but looking forward to seeing you all.

rubylady Tue 12-Jul-16 03:20:52

Only if you bring chocolates, cards and flowers, lol. I am only kidding although to share the day with new friends would be a lovely pre birthday treat. So welcome Claudiaclaws, I'm looking forward to meeting you. smile

DanniRae I will PM my address and then you can send your chocolates, cards and flowers, I wouldn't want you to miss out, grin Thank you for the good wishes, it is a shame you can't join us. We should do a huge video chat between us all, that would be fun. Xxx

Nana3 Mon 11-Jul-16 20:55:49

Thank you DanniRae, that's very kind of you.
Claudiaclaws the more the merrier, see you on the 21st.
The group is growing smile

Claudiaclaws Mon 11-Jul-16 11:32:26

Hi,Please may I come? I am only half an hour away, and visit the garden centre regularly.

DanniRae Mon 11-Jul-16 09:32:26

I'm not coming to your meet-up because I live down south but I've read all about your arrangements and I am sending my best wishes for a great day and hope you have lots of fun on 21 July. Please come back on afterwards and let us know how it went - Ta xx

Nana3 Mon 11-Jul-16 08:27:12

Ha ha a toilet in the pantry,I did exactly the same at my parents house so they could stay in their home. My dad continued to take the bread in there to put it away for months.
Lots of jobs planned for the summer, good luck with that ruby grin. I like the sound of the seaside trips though smile
We can say see you next week now smile hurray. Some good weather is coming too according to BBC weather.

rubylady Mon 11-Jul-16 08:07:33

Hi Nana It's ok, I have plenty of things to occupy him. I want a toilet putting in downstairs so he will have to empty the pantry and decorate it first before the plumber comes. I need the garden seeing to, maybe a shed building (to house all the pantry stuff). He needs to sort out his room and what he is taking and clean his cave. Along with visits to the seaside and having some good times together too, he will be kept busy. He may even be going back into college to do summer school with the younger ones like he did last year. Plus he has to party with his mates, he won't see them the same after September and even if he does it will all change really. So, 10 weeks will fly by, I'll be on here soon saying how much I miss him. sad

But, yes, I will look like a giant candy floss with my pink hair! I am looking forward to this meet up. It's only next week now, yeah! [doing a little dance emoticon]. X

Nana3 Sun 10-Jul-16 17:43:27

emptynester good to hear you will be joining us. The garden centre address was posted by ruby earlier on the thread.
We won't mistake you ruby, you'll be shining like a beacon to cheer us with your pink hair! No need for a red carnation then smile
Hope things improve with your son over the summer, a good few weeks to go yet before Uni starts, he could do with something to occupy him.

rubylady Sun 10-Jul-16 04:16:28

Please be warned, I am menopausal and am sporting bright pink hair at the moment, cut myself so no specific style other than short for comfort. I might also come in my liberal clothing of kaftan, depending on the weather or my internal temperature! grin

I have just looked on my profile page and I look nothing like the pic on there, apart from the face being a bit more fallen than the fresh face on the photo!

Maybe a paper bag would be useful? Lol

emptynester1 Sat 09-Jul-16 09:52:04

That's great, thanks. I"m looking forward to it and hope it is a regular thing. As I said in my previous post, my close friends are childless, except one or two who have moved from my area , nor do I have any relatives who are grans, so it would be great to meet other grans. x

rubylady Sat 09-Jul-16 02:38:21

emptynester Yes, it's still on and welcome to the group. It will be lovely to see you. I don't see my DGC because my daughter has estranged herself from me so I know how you feel as when I did see them it was only for short times every few months. Anyway, we can chat on the day.

Nana Yes, I have not been great of late but it wont stop me coming on the 21st. I think some of it is waiting now for my son to start uni and then I can get on with my own life, it's a bit like living in limbo just yet, knowing what I want to do but not being able to do it. I don't mean that in a mean way, but today he has hardly spoke to me due to him being out all day and then in his room all night.

So yes, I am looking forward to meeting up with some like minded people who understand what I am going through but also to have a laugh or two with as well. smile

emptynester1 Fri 08-Jul-16 14:12:13

I am new to this group and very lonely since my son moved out recently. He has a small baby who I love dearly but who I only get to see for about an hour a week due to my DIL coming from a large family with lots of nephews and nieces to visit. All my friends are unmarried with no children so I can't share my experiences with them. I live near the Radcliffe garden centre so would love to meet up. Is it still on for 21st July? x
