Hi, I'm new on here and I joined to see if anyone knew of any meet ups near Bagshot in Surrey. I only work two days a week and find that being 58, I'm not quite old enough to go out and about with people of pension age and too old to go out with younger people-it's really tough to make friends. Any ideas guys?

My advice is not to narrow your expectations of whom you can make friends with. As a 'person of pension age', I get on well with people considerably older and quite a bit younger than I am. You could, for instance, join a gardening club and find common ground (pardon the pun) with people of all ages; amateur dramatic groups welcome anyone who is interested regardless of age. Book groups can be fun and stimulating. U3A is for retired or semi-retired people which I think would include you as you only work two days a week. I hope you do find friends but don't get hung up on the age thing!

Ha Ha, it comes from having two sons I'm afraid, sorry.

Wondering whether meeting at a south east central point, say blue water maybe, would allow people from all over the area to meet up and perhaps fit in a bit of shopping at the same time.
I too am retired but have friends in their ear,ly 50s and some mid/ late 70s. Whatever their age they are fun and I love catching up with them all.

Cazzajen

There will be a GN meet up on 2nd September in Dorking. Some of us might be a bit older than you but we are all young in spirit. You would be very welcome to join us if it wasn't too far from you.Alternatively there will be one in Reading in the middle of October and possibly one in Oxford. Hope to see you at one of them.Keep you eye on the local threads.

Anyone interested in meeting up at Westfield Stratford ? For coffee ? And to discuss future trips to cinema or whatever?

I might be able to make it to Stratford loopyloo
You'd be best of starting a new thread headed "Westfield Stratford" and suggesting a date and time to suit you.
