Hi everyone, I have been 'eavesdropping' on conversations on here for a few months but have so far been more of a spectator rather than a participant. I live in South Wales (relatively new to the area - since January) and would love to meet up with other Gransnetters in my area. If you are one such person do you know of any meet ups or events locally?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome aboard Nanny have you looked at your local site? Maybe look up old meetups and see where they have met- that may give you an idea if there are people in your area. Some areas, like mine are a bit sparse but even so, 3-4 of us meet up monthly for coffee.

I'm not local to you I'm afraid but hello and welcome to Gransnet! It's a great place with just the right amount of warmth, eccentricities and support. Hope you enjoy posting. I found the first few felt a bit forced but after that got into the swing of things.

Just joined today. Looked on the local but it seemed to be empty (or I'm just doing it wrong!) so I thought I would ask if there are any members local to Watford in Hertfordshire Thank you.

Hi madcatlady I'm not in Watford, I'm North of Birmingham, but sending a big welcome and hope to see your posts around for a long time to come. flowers for you.

Hello and welcome madcatlady. Unfortunately some local sites are empty because it is up to the locals to add to it. Anyone can add anything local it's free and easy. The busier ones usually have a local editor.

Hello NannyinOgmore. I'm in South Wales! Not that close to you, nearer to Newport but not that far.

I have been in Scarborough, North Yorkshire for just over a year now. I am 66 and feeling quite lonely during the day. I have met quite a lot of people but no one to maybe meet for a coffee and a chat during the day. My wife works full time and I am retired and have a wee doggy who is great company but whose conversational skills are still quite limited.

Hello and welcome nodiddley. My grandparents used to live in Scarborough. My only memory of the place is of seeing my grandfather, a retired Methodist minister, cycling with a huge wooden mantelpiece over his shoulder. He had become a beachcomber in later life.

I am not sure whether there are ever GN meet-ups in your area. On the site you will find a few male members but not many. 'Grandad's Shed' (see forums list) has fallen into disrepair recently, maybe you could do some virtual repairs and make some new contacts.

Welcome nodiddley and madcatlady and nannyinOgmore ?
Hopefully you will meet others who live near you.
Start a new thread on the GN forum, go to Meet ups and ask if there are other GN’s who would like to meet for a coffee.

Nodiddley, I would be really interested to know what you think about living in Scarborough as you say you have only been there a year, is it what you expected? (Being nosey, I know, but it is just one of the ideas we have considered for moving)

Welcome Nanny
As the local sites are still broken ( well mine still is after about two\ three weeks) there might not be much help for new folks to find people in their area
GNHQ when are they going to be sorted please ?
