Hi everyone, I met Alchemillamollis for lunch last week and we thought, "How about arranging another meetup in Dorking, suggest the week commencing 26th March?" smile

As a starter for ten please remind me which days of the week are the best for people and then we'll narrow it down.

All welcome!

alchemillamollis Tue 28-Mar-17 15:23:40

The early hours are when I trawl the internet and Find Out Things. grin You would be amazed what there is to find out. Or maybe you wouldn't! But on Gransnet I find out useful things about health. smile

Greenfinch Tue 28-Mar-17 12:15:15

There are 3 stops on the train between Wokingham and Reading but I happened to be on a train that did not stop at any of them !

Insomnia is very unpleasant though I suppose the up side is that you can get more done in the day (and night)

alchemillamollis Tue 28-Mar-17 10:39:59

Oh yes, I know that feeling of awfulness - I sometimes do that on the tube, if reading a book too intently. But it's worse on the train, because of the distances involved. I have a bit of a fear of trains which I developed as a teen - based on the notion that I might end up in Edinburgh or the Outer Hebrides when trying to get to Bedford.

Insomnia keeps me up late, in spite of drenching myself in Aromatherapy Associates' Deep Relax Bath Oil. Any exercise helps with that, which is why I'm grateful to Grannyknot for introducing me to dancing. smile

Greenfinch Tue 28-Mar-17 06:58:43

Sounds like fun molly.
You are up late.
Enjoy your dancing classes !

Greenfinch Tue 28-Mar-17 06:55:20

It was awful.I just woke up as in time to see the car park at Wokingham disappearing and the voice saying"next stop Reading".shock

alchemillamollis Tue 28-Mar-17 02:10:58

Grannyknot, I loved the way you said "Not you!" to the startled young man! Haha, scared by a granny...we might've abducted him...

Greenfinch, what an eventful trip back! Hope it was a nice nap with sweet dreams.

Bellsnwhistles Mon 27-Mar-17 22:21:09

Such a treat meeting up today! Shame I couldnt stay longer but great fun seeing you all.
Ooh, thanks grannyknot, I like the idea of 'gigs' rather than assignmentsgrin.

Grannyknot Mon 27-Mar-17 22:20:16

Greenfinch shock

Greenfinch Mon 27-Mar-17 19:10:40

Thanks for your company everyone.A really good couple of hours. It was good to meet new faces and "old"ones.I was so relaxed on the way home I fell asleep on the train and missed my stop.I went all the way to Reading and had to catch the train back !!

Grannyknot Mon 27-Mar-17 18:56:28

HI everyone, thanks to those who came to Dorking today.

Bellsnwhistles had to dash off to her next gig, but the rest of us (me, molly, goldenspring and greenfinch) were there until 2 p.m having got there for 12 shock.

Thanks for the lift nearly all the way home molly (I leapt out at a bus stop and the young man sitting there was so startled he even pulled his earphones out ...)

Looking forward to meeting again in the not too distant future.

alchemillamollis Sun 26-Mar-17 02:52:06

Thanks, Auntieflo. Greenfinch, my kids have a couple of friends who have transitioned, so I do have some first-hand experience.

If anyone else can make Monday, please do just turn up...another one or two can always be accommodated. smile And we have such fun.

Auntieflo Fri 24-Mar-17 22:18:06

Molly, thank you for the invitation, but I have to be elsewhere, but I shall see Greenfinch in April when we have a meet in Reading. Enjoy Monday.

Greenfinch Fri 24-Mar-17 21:17:53

Alchemillamollis,I would like to discuss this book too especially as I have a member of my extended family going through this experience.

alchemillamollis Fri 24-Mar-17 20:36:16

Golden, it's booked in the name of Gransnet.

AuntieFlo, any chance you could join us? You would be very welcome!

Greenfinch, I've read "This is how it always is" and would love to discuss it! A very topical book - and I'd recommend it.

I am always trying to declutter and will bring along some books - no-one should worry if they have none to dispose of, though. smile Just nice to pass books on to GNers if they'll have them!

Penstemmon and Purpledaffodil, hope to see you both at the next one.

Greenfinch Fri 24-Mar-17 20:27:04

Sorry you will not be able to join us on Monday purpledaffodil. We will miss you.See you next time

Grannyknot Fri 24-Mar-17 14:01:46

golden what we've done a couple of times before is bring a book or two with you (entirely optional) - any book that you're ready to pass on to the charity shop or someone else, it doesn't have to be a Gransnet prize, or book of the month.

There aren't many tables in Gorgeous Gerties and as soon as you say you're with the group of grannies they will show you to the table. We've been a few times and the bigger tables are usually as you come in to the shop.

See you on Monday!

Goldenspring Fri 24-Mar-17 12:03:33

Hi ladies, I'm looking forward to seeing you in Gerties at 12.00. I'm now a bit confused - what's all this about books? Should I just bring a couple of paperbacks for swapping or are you referring to specific book club books? If I arrive first, is there a table booked in a specific name? OH and I are notorious for arriving to events too early! ?

Grannyknot Fri 24-Mar-17 10:47:29

penstemmon smile the "loveys" will have brew and more brew and cupcake and maybe even cafe

Greenfinch Fri 24-Mar-17 10:34:33

Yes it is a quaint little shop selling all kinds of unusual things and it has lots of nooks and crannies. There is an upstairs too and the toilet was up a funny little passage way that I found difficult to locate.Well worth a visit if you find yourself in Dorking.

Auntieflo Fri 24-Mar-17 08:41:12

Sorry to butt in on your thread, but it was the title, Gorgeous Gertie, that did it. I have become a watcher of the TV programme, Money for Nothing recently. One day, Sarah, presenter, had made some covered notebooks, and I'm sure she said that she had sold them to a shop called Gorgeous Gertie's, and it looked a pretty little place. Am I right? Just being nosy really. Anyway, enjoy your meet up on Monday.

Purpledaffodil Fri 24-Mar-17 07:29:50

Have already sent apologies to Molly, DH has to have a wisdom tooth out on Monday and so I must be there for chauffeur duties. Really sorry to miss you all. sad

Greenfinch Fri 24-Mar-17 07:13:00

Good idea grannyknot.I will bring last month's book
This is how it always is.I think that was the title.

Penstemmon Thu 23-Mar-17 23:16:46

Oh dear..confusion confusion.. No I will not see you on 27th March ..I have to go to work! Have a lovey time xx

Penstemmon Thu 23-Mar-17 23:13:38

See you all soon! grin

Grannyknot Thu 23-Mar-17 22:54:44

Hi everyone, I saw Molly today in a dancing class smile, we're looking forward to Monday.

If you have any books to swop, suggestion is to bring one (or even two). I'll bring some of my GN ones, they're good as new.

I'm going a bit early so as to do some shopping, see you at Gertie's at the appointed time.
