I shan't mention the dreaded C**-word yet, as September is only partway through, but we do need to start planning and booking if we want to meet up in December. The sooner we book the more likely we are to get a table.

Possible dates - 11th to 20th December, with the 14th or 15th mentioned.
Possible venue - ROSL, Princes Street.
Likely format - lunchtime eating and drinking, and talking. It is just possible that a splinter group may also go to see a show in the afternoon, if there is one that appeals.
Numbers - So far six people are interested. ( Katek Elizabeth1 Jane10 EllenT Marelli Me )

Please add your name if you are interested, and say which date(s) you would prefer.

Oh that's a shame cascats , sad it would have been nice to have met.you. However, you will now have extra time to spend with your family. smile

On the plus side am getting to spend even more time with family (although they are coming over for Christmas) grin
So if anyone would like to bring a friend in my place, please feel free.smile

I have just read through this thread! Gosh what a proper bash that’s going to be! I hope you all have an absolutely splendid time and that there will be lots of photos. And don’t let Soop get into trouble tchgrin!

Is Omagranny reading this? If so, please check your inbox for private messages.

Son-in-law fixed it in five minutes. He arrived all ready for a lengthy fight but it turned out to be quite simple (don't ask me what was wrong with it)

I'm so sorry to hear of the PC problems. Mine is always doing that. I'm lucky my son is an IT consultant. However when anything goes wrong, he always says: : "What did you do, mum?" angry

Jane10 Thu 30-Nov-17 21:23:25

How incredibly frustrating and infuriating Elegran. Fingers crossed it can be fixed. FYI I've used a local computer repair person based near you. PC Doctor.

Elegran Thu 30-Nov-17 18:00:10

Thanks everyone, I now have all the info. I DID have it all in a nice neat table ready to send off but this morning my PC refused to boot up and has been blank all day. I can redo the table from your PMs but I am very worried about what else will be lost if it doesn't recover. I have looked at the separate hard drive on which I was doing regular backups and I can't find them for the last six months. Even if I could, it won't even switch on.

I have dug out an old tiny slow laptop to use but it is not easy to use and has a minute amount of memory.

cascats Tue 28-Nov-17 19:17:45

Tis done, sorry Elegran, been away with limited wifi. tchsmile

Every post is doubling at the moment. I posted about three new beavers but it made it seem there are now six.

There is a lift Soop, you can share it with me!

I too would love both the fizz and wine, but I would need carried to Waverley for the train home, so I'm passing on the fizz and settling for the wine!
Thanks for the tip about the lift. Stairs are my nemesis!

Elegran I likes fizz and I likes wine. If I chose both, I would be tipsy in next to no time. Most unladylike! So, wine it is. I shall change into my long skirt in the lav. As for all those stairs...MacSporran will help me to negotiate them before he leaves for an episode of sightseeing.

Elegran Tue 28-Nov-17 13:30:41

I now have almost everyone's choices. No word from Cascats or Omagranny. They may not be looking at their inboxes, so if anyone is in contact with them any other way, could you pass on that we are pre-ordering?

8 out of 17 of us are ordering wine, but only two the fizz. I hope the rest don't feel put out watching them drink it!

Elegran Tue 28-Nov-17 13:25:57

By the way, we will be in the Edinburgh Room - the restaurant will be full of Bank of Scotland pensioners. (Their do sounds rather good, incidentally)

Elegran Tue 28-Nov-17 13:23:35

Wel, what you will find, Soop is that there are two flights of stairs up to the restaurant, and the bedrooms are above that. There is a lift, but it is round a corner and down half a dozen stairs, and visitors have already negotiated steps up from Princes Street to the front door. So have you walking stick ready and ask about the lift at reception - it isn't obvious!

It is impossible for them to install a more convenient lift, as the only space at ground floor level is the narrow reception area. There are jewellery shops on either side of them and Boots next door to that. They have restaurant and other public rooms on the first and second floors and bedrooms at the top.

Elegran Baggs tells me that the venue is "classy" and that other events have been held there without any cause for complaint. Well now, all I can say is that for some of us it's all new territory. When I arrive, I shall be all shy and retiring, hmm but, never fear, that won't last for long. And that's a promise. grin

Marydoll Sun 26-Nov-17 23:36:50

Sorry, I keep changing my mind. I'll PM tomorrow. The menu is great.

Elegran Sun 26-Nov-17 23:34:53

I've had six choices in so far, and a promise of another tomorrow.

Elegran Sun 26-Nov-17 23:30:22

It is potage au Rudolph.

Elegran Sun 26-Nov-17 23:29:39

I lied.
