I shan't mention the dreaded C**-word yet, as September is only partway through, but we do need to start planning and booking if we want to meet up in December. The sooner we book the more likely we are to get a table.

Possible dates - 11th to 20th December, with the 14th or 15th mentioned.
Possible venue - ROSL, Princes Street.
Likely format - lunchtime eating and drinking, and talking. It is just possible that a splinter group may also go to see a show in the afternoon, if there is one that appeals.
Numbers - So far six people are interested. ( Katek Elizabeth1 Jane10 EllenT Marelli Me )

Please add your name if you are interested, and say which date(s) you would prefer.

CALLGIRL I often travel from Edinburgh to Devon by train and with judicious planning, usually through Trainline, can usually get a very reasonable fare- try it! Sorry I won't be with you. I shall miss our get togethers but hope to be back for a visit one day. (Moving next week)
Have a great time.

NanaandGrampy Mon 16-Oct-17 20:09:50

You and me both Lona ?

Lona Mon 16-Oct-17 20:05:58

I am officially GREEN with envy, especially now that soop is going! I'm seriously thinking of running away from home to live in Edinburgh!

Marelli Mon 16-Oct-17 19:19:56

callgirl1, if only you could make it.....you know that you can always stay here with me? ☺️x

callgirl1 Mon 16-Oct-17 17:30:41

I wish I didn`t live so far from Edinburgh, would love to come, but train fares are horrendous.

Elegran Mon 16-Oct-17 17:11:47

Yes, Jangran99 I shall add your name and look forward to meeting you. Jollyg, sorry it is a Wednesday - it is quite a jigsaw puzzle finding a date to suit everyone. Keep watching out for the next one.

(and sorry to Baubles too. Perhaps we should have another Burns lunch in January?)

Baggs Mon 16-Oct-17 15:27:20

Rotten luck that you can't make it this time, jollyg. There'll be a next time, don't worry ?

Jangran99 Mon 16-Oct-17 15:09:52

Elegran please may I join the Edinburgh bash? Marydoll has convinced me of the fun in store, so I'm looking forward to meeting you all. So many familiar names: I rarely join in( except the games) but I read all the threads avidly! It will be lovely to see how you match up to my mind picturessmile

jollyg Mon 16-Oct-17 14:20:44

Sorry I cannotmake a Wed. Would love to meet Soop and the gang.
Am attending a clinic with the title'Medicine for the elderly'

Am most impressed that the Gp made an appt on my behalf, as I have been falling and also use walking sticks.
The doc did various manoeuvres with my hands, resulting in my being sick. he must have been a rugby player, as he managed to grab the waste paper basket ino which I deposited my morning orange.

I am so impressed with the treatment and time they take, from appointment to the Western General 6 days, and sympathetic Drs and Nurse. Next step physio, so taking things as they come..

Also I am lucky to have an empathetic GP, female, Onwards and upwards

Tho I find winter depressing and have escaped in the past , by going to the sun, when the kids were older of course.

I survived last winter , the previous 15 we escaped to S India!

soop Mon 16-Oct-17 14:03:54

Elegran Tyke!!!! Whoo hoo.

Elegran Mon 16-Oct-17 13:54:03

That is wonderful, soop . You'll be on the spot and you can just fall into bed at the end of the day. That is if the party doesn't continue up in your hotel room!

soop Mon 16-Oct-17 13:46:04

Marydoll The more the merrier! I've been feeling a bit down in the dumps recently. I have had a much appreciated boost since knowing that I'm to meet some Granspals in person for the first time...together with some long term pals.

Jane10 Thank you for the tip. As for being mythical don't make me laff! wink

Jane10 Mon 16-Oct-17 13:29:10

It will be strange to meet the previously mythical figure of Soop!
You could just get off the bus on Princes street. No taxi required. ROSL is just next door to Boots.

Marydoll Mon 16-Oct-17 13:28:20

That is brilliant news. I'm trying to persuade another Gransnetter to come. I had better get to the meet after all this. Fingers crossed.smile

soop Mon 16-Oct-17 13:19:57

Booked! I'm about to do a one-legged jig. Couldn't be happier knowing I shall meet up with you all.

soop Mon 16-Oct-17 13:06:18

PS...MacSporran has suggested we book this after. It will be a belated birthday treat for him. I'm all of a dither.

soop Mon 16-Oct-17 13:04:00

Update...Macsporran and I will take the bus as mentioned. He will do some sightseeing and I shall join you lot grin grin grin We'll book into the ROSL or nearby Premier Inn and stay the night. Yay!!!

soop Mon 16-Oct-17 12:58:29

The computer was switched on about thirty minutes ago. Hence I've only just this minute caught up with Elegran's message. Thank you, Elegran You are a very kind lady.

Marydoll I would travel by bus as there is no trainline in Kintyre. Bus to Glasgow and change buses (easily done) to complete the journey to Edinburgh.

Back in a mo'

Marelli Sun 15-Oct-17 22:49:11

I’m so looking forward to this! It’ll be lovely to see everyone - new faces and those I’ve met many times before! If soop can make it, it will be the cherry on the cake!! ☺️

Marydoll Sun 15-Oct-17 19:58:04

Soop what an adventure if you could come. Are you getting a taxi from Glasgow to Edinburgh? The train from Queen Street would be quicker and cheaper.
Or am I just interfering and confusing things?
I really hope I can come to the lunch, I would love to meet up with people.

Baggs Sun 15-Oct-17 17:51:21

It will be lovely if you are able to come, soop. Do take up elegran's kind offer if it would make things easier for you, which it would! ?

Elegran Sun 15-Oct-17 17:34:00

Just come back to the pooter, soop and seen your post. If it is remotely possible for you to get to the Edinburgh meetup then it would be great to see you.

Baggs has her name down to come, so for some of the journey you could join her. It will still be a long day for you - do you want a bed for the night, either before or after or both? I have a new bed in the spare room! At the moment it is heaped with sewing but that can be moved.

soop Sun 15-Oct-17 17:15:02

Elegran I'm wondering whether or not I may be able to join you. The bus leaves at 7:10 and arrives Glasgow 11:00-ish. I would therefore be able to join you as soon as I've hailed a taxi to the venue. What does ROSL stand for? The last bus for me in the afternoon leaves Glasgow at 5:45 which means that I'd need to leave the gathering at 4-ish. What do you think?

Elegran Fri 06-Oct-17 21:18:19

By that I don't mean that our age is 14, though sometimes it does seem so.

Elegran Fri 06-Oct-17 18:23:17

We are now 14. Have I missed anyone?
