I shan't mention the dreaded C**-word yet, as September is only partway through, but we do need to start planning and booking if we want to meet up in December. The sooner we book the more likely we are to get a table.

Possible dates - 11th to 20th December, with the 14th or 15th mentioned.
Possible venue - ROSL, Princes Street.
Likely format - lunchtime eating and drinking, and talking. It is just possible that a splinter group may also go to see a show in the afternoon, if there is one that appeals.
Numbers - So far six people are interested. ( Katek Elizabeth1 Jane10 EllenT Marelli Me )

Please add your name if you are interested, and say which date(s) you would prefer.

Marydoll, it WAS one of those switchboards! I was in that job from 1959 until 1964, quite liked it, but the chief supervisor was a bit of a tartar! It was at Rochdale exchange.

Marydoll Tue 19-Dec-17 07:02:07

It would have been lovely to meet you callgirl, I loved your previous name.

That as my first meet up and everyone was so welcoming
For some reason, I always picture you sitting at one of those switchboards with all the cables. grin

I too wish I could have been there, but the train fare is too prohibitive I`m afraid.

soop Sun 17-Dec-17 12:03:04

I wish that we rewind and do it all again. I would have enjoyed chatting and getting to know those Granspals with whom I'm not familiar. The event was a cheerful and greatly appreciated treat. tchsmile

Lovely to put some faces to names, and what a lovely view from the window too!

Jane10 Sat 16-Dec-17 17:12:19

So was annsixty. At our end of the table we were saying how nice it would be if she could have joined us.

soop Sat 16-Dec-17 17:07:04

callgirl1 ? - no, my hair was tied back (it’s mid-back length)! I wish you could’ve been there, too. Xx

callgirl1 Fri 15-Dec-17 18:13:36

Thank you Elegran for the listing.
Baggs, I don`t wish to offend, but I didn`t recognize you at first, the new hairstyle is lovely, you look so much younger!
Marelli, have you had your hair cut, or have you got it up?
Wish I could have been there, says she, wistfully.

Greyduster Fri 15-Dec-17 07:08:38

No, Elizabeth, I was merely referring to the ladies in the photograph. I have had the pleasure of meeting one of your number before and hope to do so again, but a bit nearer to home than Edinburgh - sadly too far for me! ?

Elizabeth1 Fri 15-Dec-17 06:56:26

Morning greyduster not sure who you are perhaps you’re the lady who said she was changing her name?

Greyduster Fri 15-Dec-17 06:34:58

How lovely to be able to put faces to so many names! Glad you all had a splendid time!

Lovely to see everyone and thanks again, Elegran, from a sleety East Lothian. Roll on next time, and Happy Christmas all. tchsmile

Marydoll Thu 14-Dec-17 14:30:57

After the Burns one, Jan and I will put our heads together (Sorry Jan, but you offered MY services yesterday smile).

Elegran Thu 14-Dec-17 14:28:51

Oh go on, Marydoll, it is time Scotland's second city (where's my tin hat? takes cover) hosted a meet-up. I believe there has been one, but I couldn't get to it so I can't tell you anything about it. It's not that difficult - you don't have to publicise it and market it, everyone seems keen to come, you just have to count numbers and pick a nice place. Tutorials on request.

Marydoll Thu 14-Dec-17 14:18:21

OOOh I'm thinking about it. wink
However, Jan and I could never match Elengran's organisational skills.

oldgoat Thu 14-Dec-17 14:12:47

Just passed The Angel of the North in the train so I'm now officially 'down South', and left behind the snow which was falling when I left Fife.
I'm sure I saw icebergs floating on the Tweed in Berwick, though they could have been frozen swans!!
Hope everyone had a safe journey home and look forward to meeting again in 2018 (in Glasgow????).
