Just interested to find out how many people in N Ireland are on GN.

The Piano lounge on the first floor of the Europa hotel is spacious and usually quiet. They serve tea/coffee and light lunches. I can find out more if anyone is interested. Handy location for the bus and train station.

Hi I`m in Belfast been on Gransnet for some years but haven`t posted in a while would be up for a meetup Belfast city centre is good for me.

annep Mon 24-Sept-18 03:19:35

I do get your point Coolgran. A hotel would be more pleasant and Belfast is always going to be busy and possibly noisy. I'm just wondering if some people might be using the train.

I know Belfast seems like an obvious choice but we'd be looking somewhere quiet with no pushing and shoving.

I don't bother with Belfast much so don't know where would be suitable, and if I do go in I catch the airport bus and don't bother with the car.

If most were driving might it be best to pick somewhere in the outskirts. With the motorways and ringroads it's nearly easier to cross the city than go into it..

I'll go anywhere but as an example, there is Corrs Corner just off the M2 at Glengormley with plenty of parking. Hotel and restaurant. They serve all day i.e. morning coffee, lunch. afternoon tea. Plenty of seating. And it would be easy to book a table, or a couple of tables put together, for coffee/scones/whatever.
It happens to be on my side of the city outskirts but I'm just using it as an example. Perhaps that type of place rather than jostling in the city centre.

Just an idea to throw into the ring.

I am 69, and living in N I and would love to met in Belfast. I will try to fit in with whatever date suits the majority. I have been a member of Gransnet for many years but don’t post much.

I am free most times except Monday and Thursday afternoons.

annep Sun 23-Sept-18 22:54:05

Quiet is good for chatting. So that's one possibility.

There's a nice little coffee place downstairs in Easons (Donegall Place) opposite Boots and near M&S. It would be just hot drinks and snacks, and is quiet. Not sure if this would suit everyone, and even if Belfast is convenient to all? Open to any further ideas ?

annep Sun 23-Sept-18 12:50:23

Wed or Thursday Belfast ok. Can do another town if it suits some travelllers. I'm pretty central. Trying to think of good venue not too noisy. ideas?

I am 67 and from North Down too so not a spring chicken. Any time suits me. I think meets up might be arranged by private messaging but not sure could be wrong.

68 year old here. Early November is out for me as grandchild 8 is due in England and I am booked for childminding duty. Otherwise most days I can be flexible.

Coolgran65 Sun 23-Sept-18 12:02:46

I'm 69 and in County Antrim.
Can make Belfast ok.
I do childcare every Friday and alternate Tuesday/Thursday.
Monday is my best option but would do my best to make a meet work.

A rough count ... looks like 10 so far.
(unless I've done a double dunt)

dani4 Sun 23-Sept-18 11:55:40

Well I am 72 smile. Ok Annep, how about November then? Does this suit everyone? Only day in the week I can't manage is a Monday, otherwise ok. Could we arrange a date to suit all?
Aggie, you are never too old!

annep Sun 23-Sept-18 09:55:08

Well Aggie I am 67 . Any other older GNs on board?

Judthepud2 Sun 23-Sept-18 09:34:27

Hello. I'm from NI too. North Down. I went to a meet up in Edinburgh once when I was in the area. It was lovely to be able to put faces to names. Good to see so many of us here now. I put out a request for local GNers about 3 years ago and no response? I'd be up for a meeting.

annep Sun 23-Sept-18 08:43:49

Hi everyone. Has anyone met up yet? I am not free until November.
Is anyone interested? I've no idea how people arrange meeting up. Some people think its a bad idea but I think it might be nice to give it a go.

Strange so few in Northern Ireland. Perhaps folk aren't so isolated here?
