Mondays and Wednesdays not too good but that stops in early July.
Other than that, luck of the draw.

Is Market Harborough ok for people? Any dates?

kittylester Sat 16-Jun-18 11:09:18

Bump

MawBroon Sat 16-Jun-18 09:47:53

Take that back. I’d pay £5 or more to stroke greyhounds, although the thought of 20 of them together is a bit gringrin

MawBroon Sat 16-Jun-18 09:46:33

Great idea but sounds a bit ageist if well intentioned.

kittylester Sat 16-Jun-18 09:16:33

That sounds like a good idea though please be careful of falling into the stereotypes trap.

As you can probably tell, we are organising our own day out.

Good evening! I stumbled across Gransnet when browsing the AgeUK site and what a great community! I’m not a gran (age 30) but I volunteer in a Cat cafe in Chesterfield which specialises in AAT (Animal assisted therapy) and was looking at becoming a partner with AgeUK to help older people in the area. Entry to the cafe is usually £5pp which goes to the welfare of the cats (we have 20 or so) however we’re launching an event every Wednesday between 11am and 2pm where entry for anyone over 60 is free. We’re trying to encourage older people to get out of the house, have a cup of tea and stroke some cats. If any of you would like to come then please let me know ?

Definitely, j52!

I should have also mentioned Foxton Locks. Lovely pub for lunch, canal trip, industrial heritage and canal walk.

Thank you j52, have made a note and we are looking forward to our trip.

It depends on how many there are. We did meet at Zizis before. Could we do that again?
It caters for all tastes.
I’m quite flexible from Mon 25 to Friday 6 th July.
How about others?

kittylester Fri 15-Jun-18 19:17:47

Just realised my brother goes to that ice cream parlour when he is in charge of his DGS!

kittylester Fri 15-Jun-18 19:17:03

And me.

Any dates?

Good places to go J52?

Teetime Fri 15-Jun-18 18:14:09

If its practical I can give lifts to MH.

Scribbles Fri 15-Jun-18 18:02:22

I could get there by train if the cost isn't too outrageous.

J52 Fri 15-Jun-18 16:55:47

Silverlinings Ascots is a lovely restaurant. Just so Italian is a small deli/ cafe, but everything is Italian and fresh. There’s also a lovely Ice cream parlour tucked away next to the library.
If you have a car then visit Farden Fields farm shop and cafe, it’s wonderful. It’s not far out of MH but just too far to walk.

Teetime Fri 15-Jun-18 15:14:13

Me too xx

silverlining48 Fri 15-Jun-18 13:50:43

We are visiting market harborough for a couple of nights at the end of august. Will be our first visit to leicestershire. Any recommendations for nice restaurants and/ or places to go are most welcome.

J52 Fri 15-Jun-18 11:41:43

MH suits me. Have you seen me in the several Garden Centres?
I’m getting worried about my plant obsession! I don’t seem to be able to go out without coming back with one, or two!
I do share the bargains with friends and family. ??

MawBroon Fri 15-Jun-18 11:27:01

Suits me, or I could drive (I am getting braver every day, I drove to Chatsworth and back last Wednesday for the Flower Show ) - look out E Midlands road users ?

kittylester Fri 15-Jun-18 10:53:59

I thought about Market Harborough again as it's on a main train line - any one want to suggest somewhere else?

Bet you don't J52! Unless it's the Garden Centre! grin

J52 Fri 15-Jun-18 10:35:25

And me ?.

MawBroon Fri 15-Jun-18 10:00:47

Me please!

kittylester Fri 15-Jun-18 09:57:31
