I’m thinking of a nice trip to St Andrews sometime the end of June or the first 2 weeks in July. I’ve missed several catch ups due to other commitments and would love to see you all again.

Thanks for all the welcomes I've received. Well spotted mcem, I was indeed born in Forfar, hence Bridie, and now live near there too. Will certainly watch the meet up threads. Boy can you end up spending soooo much time on here!

Marydoll Tue 01-Oct-19 20:07:07

A warm welcome from me too, * Bridie*!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the Edinburgh meet ups.

Marelli Mon 30-Sept-19 23:33:20

Hello Bridie, and welcome ?. It would be good if you could come along to our next meet up, which will likely be nearer Christmas. I'm in Fife but pop down to Edinburgh to meet with the other grans quite often. There are usually at least half a dozen of us meet for a lunch, sometimes managing to fit in an exhibition or something, too. Keep an eye on the 'meetup' threads? St Andrews is also a favourite.

Welcome bridie. I assume you're in Forfar (or am I reading too much into your name?)

Grammaretto Mon 30-Sept-19 21:27:16

welcome from me too bridie. I've been on a few meet ups now and they are always fun.
We went to Dundee earlier this year and to St, Andrews another time..
I believe there was a meet in Edinburgh today but I couldn't go. The next one could be a Christmas meal. I think there are quite a few GNers in Fife.
I also have family in NZ.

Jangran99 Mon 30-Sept-19 20:02:31

Welcome \Bridie, lovely to hear from a fellow Scot
There are quite a number of us on here, as you join in the other threads you will soon discover who we are.We often have to travel for our meets, but it all adds to the fun. We are a friendly lot and always happy to meet a new Scottish Granny

I know this meet has passed me by but am new here, first post, and live just north of Dundee. Is there anyone near me? Scottish areas a bit short on support it seems. {sad face} and I am struggling with son and DIL and my 2 wee GCs in NZ. Lots more to that tale....

That is good news, Marelli
Like Marydoll, I would never have guessed 70!

Marydoll Tue 23-Jul-19 23:40:06

Glad to hear she is progressing, albeit slowly, I would never have guessed Elizabeth is seventy!! She looks so young.☺️

Marelli Tue 23-Jul-19 23:14:46

Hello all. Elizabeth1 is progressing steadily. She's still in hospital and may be there for a wee while yet, until her mobility improves. In herself she's quite well - but she so wants to come home. She's been able to have home visits once a week for a few hours, and had a wonderful day on Saturday with her twin sister and lots of family members. It was their 70th birthday. I visited her today, and she was showing me photos. It looked really lovely.
I'll let her know you're asking after her. ?

Brunette10 Tue 23-Jul-19 21:48:29

Best wishes to all. X

GeminiJen Tue 16-Jul-19 18:56:17

Number12 Sorry to hear that. Sending best wishes flowers
I'm sure we'll arrange a St Andrews meetup just as soon as Elizabeth1 is up to it.

Number12 Tue 16-Jul-19 15:57:10

Oh thats a pity but l am booked up this Friday. Unfortunately l am going to mediation after my husband left and now lives in Brussels. Very sad but let me know if you are back in St Andrews again
.

GeminiJen Tue 16-Jul-19 13:25:21

Number12 Welcome aboard smile
As you'll see from this thread, we've put off agreeing a date for this until Elizabeth1 is feeling up to it.

Marelli Any news?

As it happens, I'm staying near St Andrews for a few days. It's very short notice but, if any Gransnetters are free this Friday (July 19) I'd love to meet up for ....coffee/lunch/afternoon tea/walk...?
.. or any of the above .
Any takers?

Number12 Mon 15-Jul-19 20:53:28

Hi I am new to Gransnet. Have you set up a meetup group in St.Andrews ???

Marelli Sat 15-Jun-19 18:04:25

Geminijen, I'll let her know you were asking for her. She's making slow but steady progress. ?

GeminiJen Sat 15-Jun-19 17:46:11

Please pass on hugs and best wishes from me too, Marelli.
I did PM Elizabeth 1 when Elegran passed on the news, but that was a while ago now. As Jane 10 says, she always looked the picture of health....so I do hope that progress is good flowers

Marelli Fri 14-Jun-19 21:32:27

Thanks everyone ?. I'll be seeing Elizabeth1 again early next week, and will pass on your good wishes.
I'll let her know that we'll be waiting for her to feel a bit better and become a bit more mobile before we all get together to have our meetup again. Xx

Brunette10 Fri 14-Jun-19 15:11:37

I wasn't able to make this date unfortunately but I do agree trying to make it later when Elizabeth can make it too would be a great idea. Sending Elizabeth hugs and best wishes.

Jane10 Fri 14-Jun-19 14:46:17

Gosh poor Elizabeth1 it must have been a bad stroke for her still to be in hospital. Very sorry to hear it. She was always such a picture of glowing health. I hope she's back to her old self very soon.

Charleygirl5 Fri 14-Jun-19 13:04:38

I was brought up close to St. Andrews but London is a tad far and expensive!

weenanni59 Fri 14-Jun-19 11:28:57

I haven’t met Elizabeth but I agree that it would be lovely to be able to include her and give her something to look forward to xx

Marelli Fri 14-Jun-19 11:22:23

Bumping this, just to make sure everyone sees it. ?

Grammaretto Fri 14-Jun-19 09:18:25

Thanks for posting Marelli. Seeing as it was going to be Elizabeth's treat it seems a shame to meet up near her but without her.
Get better soon Elizabeth1. She has told me she is getting better slowly so later in the year sounds a possibility.
