I should have been posting on this before now, but the weeks seem to have whizzed by. First, please can I get preliminary dates to cross off if they are likely to be no use for lots of people who would like to be there? We are talking end of November and start of December at the moment. If that proves impossible we may have to widen the scope a bit.

The Old Waverley was good last year, and not too busy to fit us in, so I'd be inclined to repeat that, to save a lot of hassle finding somewhere new. Oh, how I wish the ROSL hadn't closed!

It looks as if you all had a good time. Thanks for the photos - they are lovely.

Thanks for organising a lovely day Elegran .
Lovely to see you all xx

oldgoat Mon 02-Dec-19 21:30:16

Hurray! Home at last!
I shared a taxi with 5 other people from Newcastle to York. Wildly extravagant but there were 600 people waiting for coach transport - would probably still be queuing now.

Oscar enjoyed his turkey supper, too.

Rats! I missed this. My own fault, I haven’t been on Gransnet much of late due to life getting in the way

Anyhoo glad it was a good day although I’d have been surprised if it had been anything other than lots of fun.

I’ll keep checking in for the next one

Baggs Mon 02-Dec-19 21:01:31

Thanks from me also, elegran! 'Twas a lovely time we had.

Sorry to hear about the York train buggerations, OG. There were train ructions to the west of Glasgow too and mysterious road closures round the head of the loch so MrBaggs had to do a diversion to come and collect me when I finally got to Helensburgh. Hey ho.

Saw DD2 for a wee while after the meet up though so that was nice. She's being a guinea pig for a new medical gadget that she and her colleagues are working on, so had a thing about the size of those small Vaseline tin stuck to her upper arm. They have to test the glue as well, you see.

Thanks from me too Elegran.
Lovely afternoon....despite the weather.
Just hope the lady in the loo, the one with the "we are not amused" face, wasn't a member of staff....or we may well need to look elsewhere for future meet ups blush
Hope too that everyone got home safely, especially oldgoat?
Here's to the next one in January...to celebrate The Bard.

Wayheyy marsco- you posted!

marsco Mon 02-Dec-19 20:07:41

{Lurkio } Next time I go out must remember to take rubber gloves for emergencies ,it was hilarious lots of laughing. Thanks to Elegran for organising the day and to everyone who managed to be there , great company .

Elegran Mon 02-Dec-19 19:46:29

The plumbing incident wasn't as dramatic as Oldgoat makes out. As I left the cubicle the toilet roll fell into the (just flushed so fairly clean) pan Lurkio was next in, didn't want to fish it out with bare hands, so ignored it. When she flushed, it partly blocked the pan and the water started to rise alarmingly, so she had to plunge in her hand to remove it. The water level fell again and disaster was averted.

Lovely photos gals! You look
really festive.

I would have been with you had I not had a huge lunch yesterday for the in law's wedding anniversary and today DD, DGD and I went to see Frozen 2 it was not bad and I drove home in heavy rain in the dark.

What plumbing incident? wink

Sorry about your train oldgoat
Hope you all have a great Christmas and look forward to see you in January.

Marelli Mon 02-Dec-19 18:55:00

Oldgoat, if only I'd thought to slip you that big chunk of turkey that I couldn't quite manage ? (makes a change, though, because you've usually got a big bag of kippers in your handbag)!
A really lovely afternoon, with lots of laughs and great company.
Thanks so much, Elegran , for sorting us out again!

Jane10 Mon 02-Dec-19 18:44:22

Yikes! I left too early. What plumbing incident?
What a nuisance about your train Oldgoat.

oldgoat Mon 02-Dec-19 17:58:09

Thanks for organising another lovely meet-up Elegran. Hope we will be allowed back at the Cranston after the unfortunate plumbing incident...

My train is terminating at Newcastle because of problems north of York so we have to travel on a replacement bus. Luckily I have that chunk of meat in my bag if I get peckish.

Jane10 Mon 02-Dec-19 16:15:47

Well we came, we saw, we ate and a good time was had by all. Thanks Elegran!
(I cunningly took the photos so I didn't need to be in them)

weenanni59 Mon 02-Dec-19 08:59:59

Elegran Sun 01-Dec-19 21:11:58

There should be 2 Rs in tomorrow.

Alastair Sim - "There's always trouble when there's arson about." Not in the kitchen at the Cranston, I hope.

Elegran Sun 01-Dec-19 21:07:34

Once we get tomorow's turkey dinner under our belts . . .

Jangran99 Sun 01-Dec-19 19:15:15

Thank you Elegran.
Are we thinking a Burns meet in January then? That would be great.
We are hoping to have a Glasgow Grannies meet in the New Year too with some new faces. That will be fun , nice to make new friends?

Elegran Sun 01-Dec-19 17:54:16

That's a shame, Jangran We'll see you next time, I hope - which will probably be in January.

Jangran99 Sun 01-Dec-19 16:58:59

Damned chest infection means I’ll miss the meet, but I can’t be coughing all over you!?
Have a lovely lunch with great food, company and great craic?
Happy and peaceful Christmas to all.
