Holiday/cruise companion from Suffolk

Hi. I wonder if anyone is in the same position. I would love a holiday abroad, especially a cruise, but don't really want to go on my own; ie, airports etc., and getting there. I'm 74, and wonder if anyone else would like the same,- holiday companion but not joined at the hips. A 'do your own thing' type. I have limited (very) smile money, so it would have to be the cheapest (but nicest we could find) holiday/cruise. Would love to hear if someone is in the same boat (excuse the pun) smile

I do so hope that you find a travel companion for a cruise.

A few years ago? there was a GN member, who teamed up with another GNetter, and they had cruises/ holidays successfully together. So good luck.

I found myself in a similar position many years ago and that started me travelling on my own. Admittedly airports and security were not such a hastle then. But some of the places I went to you would not travel alone to today (Syria, Iran etc). The only downside for me is that eating on your own is not much fun but I am not a foodie. I believe there are holidays who specialise in singles.

I’ve just read this post, shame it’s not a little more recent. I always thought how nice it would be to be able to meet up with one or two people and have a holiday together. My husband is 73 and is refusing to travel anywhere, so I’m starting to think that if he doesn’t want to go away, then I’ll find a travelling companion who does. I used to go away with my best friend, but sadly she died last year. Anyone here feel the same?
