Hertfordshire offers easy access to central London, gorgeous countryside and historic St Albans. The villages are affordable and it’s great. Good theatres, concerts and schools. Local hospital is okay. Lots of community activities if you know where to look. Free book swaps and also clothing swaps. Toys often left out in the streets for recycling. Great allotments too. Large shopping centre also.
St Albans can be difficult for older people with limited mobility as it’s very hilly and the pavements are in poor condition. Great for a day trip (hopefully not tripping)!
I would like to find a meet up in Lymington for lively chat nice food wine and techie tips and cruise, theatre. Cinema etc and general interesting chat any info anyone else be interested I have tried but found groups not very welcoming. I am normal not odd but fairly new to town.
Saltyspec As I said we moved from Hertfordshire. The main reason was that we lived in one of the new towns, which having been built without garaging for cars was quite like living in a car park. There are some lovely old towns in Hertfordshire, Berkhamsted, St Albans and Welwyn Garden. Though these are expensive. Good luck with your search.
