Which hrt for insomnia?

Is anyone on Climaval 1mg as it has just been discontinued can anyone help with suggestions I have had a hysterectomy and don't know which other one to go on

Crafting, I am horrified that your doctor is unwilling to prescribe HRT for you yet will give you antidepressants for the symptoms!
Personally I would find another doctor as life without HRT for me is unthinkable. Look up the NICE guidelines on treating the menopause so you can refuse to be put off by individual practitioners personal prejudice. I have been on HRT for over 25 years under one of the top specialists in the UK. I get a tiny implant under my skin twice a year, simple and soooo effective.

My advice to you would be to go on the Menopause Matters forum where there is a wealth of information and a lot of very knowledgeable, friendly ladies. I have found it extremely helpful and supportive throughout my twelve year 'journey' through a very difficult menopause with every symptom mentioned in the text book and a few others!

I had to come off HRT as my GP would not give it to me for more than 5 years. Since then the hot flushes got really bad especially at night when I would wake up soaked in perspiration. GP then prescribed seroxat (which is an antidepressant) which can also be taken to try and reduce the hot effect. It works reasonably well and therefore I sleep better. Hope you find something which works for you.

I'm 57 and started the dreaded menopause last christmas. I can't help you with types of HRT
As I have not seen the doctors regarding my symptoms. My mother lost a long battle with Breast Cancer at 54 yrs old. So have decided against HRT
My biggest problem like you is lack of sleep .
When it gets too bad I take Piriton tablets (drowsy ones), this helps as the lack of sleep makes functioning in the daytime difficult.
I do not agree with your doctor that insomnia is not a part of the menopause.
My DH always said I could 'sleep standing up in a snow storm!'.
But that changed when menopause started.
Can you make an appointment with another doctor at your surgery?
I think different Doctors have different views and going again might make them realise how its affecting your life at the moment.
Over the winter I took St Johns Wart to help with my mood swings. But you do have to be careful as it can not be taken with some medication.
I think it should be the doctor prescribing the right HRT to suit your symptoms

I'm on Tibolone for this and it has been working well for the past 8 years- my mian symptom was HUGE hot flushes all night every night- apart from almost curing the problem I have no other symptoms or side effects from Tibolone and can remain on it for as long as my B/P is satisfactory.
