I had my last period at 58. I went for a checkup because I was worried. The gynaecologist said I was still ovulating at 55! She laughed when I was horrified and laid “ If the average age is 51, it means some people have it earlier and some later. You’re just one of the later ones!)

Mine stopped early 50s. Had some bleeding later but no problems at all, thank goodness. Missi you are probably through it and out the other side.

I was 58 when my periods finally stopped. Then the hot flushes started together with poor sleep. Now on HRT patches and I feel like I’ve got my life back.

I’m 53 and periods stopped a year ago - I thought that meant I’d got away symptom free. Do you mean that I might still get flushes etc? Even though the periods stopped a year ago?

My periods stopped abruptly when I was 48. Apart from some slightly hot flushes and a couple of mood swings I wasn't aware of anything else. Incidentally my mother insisted she still suffered when she was in her late 80s. ???.

Wow sheila 2626 lucky you! I’m into my eighth year of hot flushes and disturbed sleep. My GP said the flushes WILL stop eventually, but he just can’t say when. ?

Sorry, I'm 67 now. Will I ever sleep normally again? Sigh

I had periods until 58. Then got hot in bed, luckily no sweating. All ok except for poor sleeping. Anyone - does your sleep pattern ever go back to normal? X

65 and never had any symptoms of menopause.

I was well into my 50's and when the menopause finally struck I hardly noticed it ... no nasty symptoms or after-effects, so cheer up!

Oh god, I'm 57 & haven't had it. I thought I'd got away with it. Didn't realise you could get it late!!!!!! My periods stopped 3 years ago & I had awful problems before that, almost constant heavy bleeding resulting in anaemia and having to have an endometrial ablation, but nothing much else. I was born with mood swings, so as my Son said, how will they know the difference if the menopause was to hit? confused

Hi Rainbow,
I'm 60 & have just hit the menopause with a vengeance, so it may yet come to you! Am now on HRT patches (tablets didn't work & made my symptoms worse), & learning to manage it.

I was 45 and actually felt a bit cheated as it was early lol?

TerriBull Thu 15-Aug-19 17:04:41

Hi Rainbow, I still hadn't hit the menopause at your age, intermittent periods if I remember rightly till they tailed off completely. Mid 60s now. I can't recall when the menopause proper actually kicked in for me. I think I got the symptoms a couple of years after that age and still have some of them.

Try not to worry, I'm sure it'll happen for you, then maybe you'll wish it hadn't hmm Not meaning to imply your menopause will be worse if it starts later, I don't think there's any evidence to that effect.

I am 57 and have no signs of the menopause and hormone tests have confirmed this. Anyone else this late? I am not sure if this is good or bad!
